The only poll numbers showing Kerry did better than Bush were numbers having to do with style and delivery. On substance, Kerry's numbers did not move up at all. This debate had no major impact on the voters. In the end, it will be viewed as a push.

The DNC is showing Bush's facial expressions and trying to use that against him because there was nothing Bush said in the debate that they could use against him. And the more people realize the lies and incoherence in Kerry's answers in the debate, the more people will realize why Bush looked so exasperated and disgusted with Kerry. Also, Bush knows that Kerry's words are hurting our troops and the Iraqi people, encouraging the terrorists, and insulting and demeaning our allies, thus making the war more difficult with increased casualties for us and our allies. I totally understand Bush's facial expressions and I think probably half the people in the country had the same expressions on their faces - me included. The elitists and Kerry Kool-aid drinkers and presstitutes don't get it. This is deadly serious, and all they can talk about is what a good debater Kerry is, ignoring what he said because they know what he said is damning to him. This is about who walks the walk, not who talks the talk on terror. And Bush walks the walk to defend us - Kerry talks the talk to be liked by the socialist Euroweenies.
After the debate, I am more scared than ever about Kerry winning. This man is dangerous, and the Euros like him because he wants to weaken the US in the world - the Euros love that idea and that is why Kerry is their guy. The Euros won't fight the terrorists, and if we are weakened, that only strenthens the terrorists. And who will lead the fight with the terrorists if we are weakened - the French??? And Kerry thinks WE are the ones who should disarm - God help us. I truly believe our very survival depends on this election.

Kerry's plan:
GLOBAL TEST followed by Global TAXES
Nuclear fuel given to Iran to test if they can be trusted
Eliminate the alliance of Russia, China, Japan and South Korea and have the United States go it alone with North Korea --- just like Clinton did and North Korea developed nukes on Clinton's watch --- Hell Clinton/Carter gave North Korea nukes
Ask France and Germany to help support the wrong war at the wrong time
I pray Kerry keeps digging --- he can spin for the next 30 days and tell us he did not say these things

What happened to no split screens? ... and why were they most often used when Kerry spoke and Bush listened? President Bush looked like anyone of us would look, if someone was attacking our honesty, integrity, and decisions. FIGHTING MAD!!! If you have ever dealt with an accomplished liar, such as Kerry, you know that they are able to stand there and lie to your face (the American Public) without any emotion showing through. If you have no real "emotion", you can't give yourself away. Pres. Bush has a lot of emotion about this country and the people that live here. He cares very deeply about our national safety and "the justice and freedom for all".
"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge ---and more."
John F. Kennedy Inaugural Address January 20, 1961
Funny, this is Kerry's hero, it should be George Bush's. George has it right!!! God Bless Him!!! _________________ Born on the Fourth of July |

I listened to the debate again on the radio and Bush sounded good! And when you read the transcript the President also comes across much better. I guess its sort of like the Kennedy/Nixon debate that people watching on TV had a different impression of who won than those listening over the radio.
This debate will be dissected more than any in our history, imo. I think Kerry has motivated his base, but I don't think he is going to make any real headway.
The President was put in a box by the debate rules, imo. The problem is he has an opponent who doesn't go by rules. _________________ Misty

The rules of the debate state very clearly that neither campaign is allowed to use any footage from the debate in any public medium. _________________ Misty

I think I didn't make myself very clear on the Kerry campaign or the DNC using Bush's words in the debate against him, as I think it is right that the campaign cannot use any images from the debate, but the DNC - and the RNC - can. But I just meant that Bush made no gaffes that the Kerry campaign or the DNC can use against him - all they have are his reactions to the debate. There was nothing of substance from the debate that could be used against Bush, but Kerry gave Bush a treasure trove to use against him. Sorry I wasn't clearer - just a senior moment.

I didn't post this in the huge debate thread and may be a little off topic here but this is my impression of what happened:
Kerry won the debate in 3 areas, and Bush won in 1 area.
First Kerry won the sytlistic area, where he just came off as a better speaker. Secondly he won the debate to the target audience, which was the undecided/uninformed voters. Third he didn't get slammed by Bush in his strongest area where he clearly should have cleaned his clock.
Bush made some good points and capitalized on a few major mistakes/missteps made by Kerry and the people who know the facts know that Kerry was full of crap (I was making the same faces as Bush - and imagine he was making them for the same reason). Unfortunately those people have already decided who they are voting for.
Lets hope Bush will do better in the next debates and do some damage control, because he clearly wasn't at the top of his game.
What do you all think ? |
