ON THE CULTURE FRONT...
In a classic example of manufacturers failing to heed the market,
the liberal Hollywood crowd is mystified by the paltry box-office
receipts of its homosexual sheepherder movie, "Brokeback
Mountain." After heavily promoting this tale that features,
we're told, graphic scenes of men groping each other, the film
has managed to generate only $33 million in box office sales.
Even when the film's actors are mentioned or introduced on
late-night talk shows, audience response is muted. As should
have been expected, homosexually themed movies are a financial
bust. Among the biggest recent financial blockbusters are
Christian-themed movies, such as the Chronicles of Narnia ($272
million domestic; $615 million worldwide) and "The Passion of
the Christ" ($370 million domestic; $611 million worldwide).
The lesson here is that films with aberrant themes tend to turn
off the vast majority of American audiences, while faith-inspired
movies are proven moneymakers. Hollywood thus ignores market
forces to its own detriment: Box office receipts have fallen by
12 percent this year, arguably as a result of this neglect. |
It is my observation, that some of the most rebroadcast movies are the old John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and old WWII flicks, where good triumphs over evil. If Hollywood really cared about making money they would go back to a winning formula that is demonstrated by all the rebroadcasts and CD sales. Perhaps there is a study that has been done that supports this observation. _________________ Defender of the honor of those in harms way keeping us out of harms way.

It would appear that the Hollywood wags are getting all bent out of shape because the Academy straights are hipocrites for not having seen 'Butt**** Mountain'. Apparently this cowpoke movie doesn't appeal to them either even though they pander to the PC crowd in gushing over it. _________________ 8th Army Korea 68-69 |

In 1980 John Connelly rejected federal funds, spent 70 million bucks for 1 elector and resigned admitting Reagan had the votes.
Dead 26 years John Wayne is still the great one. _________________ "KILL ALL THE LAWYERS!"
