The commentators on the News Hour (NPR, which is pretty darn mainstream) who I think are now Shields and Brooks - one a liberal Democrat, the other a moderate Republican - were BOTH agreeing today, something they rarely do, that Rather lost big on this one. Looking pathetic. And they marvelled at how a bunch of bloggers - they didn't say "rabble" outloud - could bring a great journalist to his knees. HA! Watch out for us rabble. The next crash you hear will be John Kerry.
