Walt Jones, we'll miss your passion, your strength, your good humor, your friendly greetings, your direct no-nonsense style. Even to the end, you were fighting the good fight, teaching people you've never met about honor, respect, integrity, loyalty, duty and more. What an honor to have been on your side.
Go With God, Walt Jones. |

My name is Carolyn Jones and my husband is Walt Jones. I just want to send my heartfelt thank you to all of you for expressing your thoughts about my husband. Although this is an extremely difficult time in my life I will keep your kind words close to my heart. Walt sat at the computer many a night communicating with his "buddies" on the forum. He was very passionate about your cause and considered it his "mission" to get the word out. It seems from all of your posts he was able to contribute towards that goal. I will continue to read your forum as I now consider it my "mission" to carry on for Walt and all those who never made it home.
Thank you all. _________________ Walt Jones (USMC, '65 - '69) It says much about the person who defends a man with no honor. |

I honor him for his service to our country and
send my condolences to you Carolyn and welcome
you to the forum.
Adapted from a Native American Prayer
Walt gives us this one thought to keep
~ he is with us still ~
He does not sleep
He is a thousand winds that blow,
He is the diamond glints on snow,
He is the sunlight on ripened grain,
He is the gentle autumn rain,
When we waken in the morning's hush,
He is the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
He is the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of him as gone
~ He is with us still ~
in each new dawn.

Blessings to you and your family in this difficult time. I'm touched by the news of Walt's passing, even though I didn't know him. We were "Swiftie Buddies" through this forum. His service and sacrafice are so appreciated. I am so pleased that he was able to use this forum as a means to communicate with so many other concerned citizens. May the Lord be with you in the days ahead.

CAROLYN
May you find comfort knowing that you are not alone in your time of loss. So many people here at Swift Vets and other sites that Walt "dropped" in on are deeply touched by his passing and will remember his words of encouragement to keep us all on track.
Be assured, Carolyn, you are in the thoughts and prayers of us all.
Rest in Peace, brother Walt, and may God hold you close.

what a shock to know Walt was not well. and that he has left the earthly ranks for the heavenly. like Kate and Kurtsprincess said, he was welcoming and warm to me also. he was full of fire and energy as he defended the honor and dignity of our Flag - Old Glory, and those who had fought under her. that is what i remember about Walt. he was so passionate in his defense and so offended at the abuse she took on the cover of that infamous book.
I found this poem on a Marine web site a month or so ago, and thought of Walt when i read it, i was always going to send it to him and never did. God Bless you Mrs. Walt Jones, and thank you for sharing your most respected husband with us here. He fought the good fight for America more then was his fair share, and i am sure he is now being recognized and rewarded for that by the One Commander who knows him best.
Walt Jones truly was Always Faithful.
with deepest respect and condolences,

Finding Pride
The colors wave gallantly, the stripes stream red,
Symbolizing the blood, which our forefathers have shed.
The blue field of patriots, form the field for the stars,
And the white pointed beacons can’t hide our land’s scars.
I look to this flag, this symbol of might,
And wonder what pride is, this weapon of right.
To find what I seek, I look deep inside,
This passion, this burning, this thing called pride.
As a color, its red, a hot burning fury,
An emotion untamed, with no judge and no jury.
Pride is the confidence, the power to go on,
Pride is the armor that great champions don.
Some will oppose me, they’ll spit in my face,
But pride will carry me, to the end of life’s race.
Everyone will fall to the ground, once - maybe more,
But the passion inside me still burns to the core.
To care not what others, think or might say,
Is the pride to battle, still fight day to day.
I will look in their eyes, and know that they’re wrong,
Feel pride within me, a strong silent song.
When the clouds roll away, and the battle is done,
I’ll know in my soul, this victory I’ve won.
And if I fall to my knees, when all hope seems lost,
I’ll remember those before me, not forgetting life’s cost.
The Marines who gave some, and those who gave all,
The courageous, the brave, who answered the call.
The call to defend freedom, liberty, and peace,
To keep us safe here, from tyranny’s crease.
The memory of those, who came before me,
Will carry me forward, as I land from the sea,
I won’t forget sacrifice, all that they gave,
Now it is my turn, your freedom to save.
I now know pride, and what that flag stands for,
I know of the heroes, the champions, the veterans of war.
I know that our fallen, gave all in their soul,
So that the red, white, and blue pride, could stream from the pole. _________________ "Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism."

Carolyn,
My deepest sympathies go out to you and the family. Walt will surely be missed. Walt and I joined on the same day. I always looked forward to his postings. He came across to me through his postings as though I had known him all my life. May you take comfort in knowing he touched a great many lives and hearts. He is truely a hero in my book. _________________ Proud 2 Star Blue Star Navy Mom

I just spent the better part of an hour reading back through some of Walt's post here. Recalling his reponses to the early infestation of trolls and his passion regarding the cover "The New Soldier" brought a smile to my face and will be a memory I will cherish.
May God bless his family and ease their burden in this trying time. _________________ A Grunt
