Schadow, you're not the only one who noticed Cheney and Rice being portrayed as ineffective. I seemed to get the impression that ABC aired Part 1 then listened to the whining by the Dems and re-wrote Part 2 under their guidance. It was almost as if Part 1 and Part 2 were written by 2 entirely separate teams of writers. It lost continuity between Part 1 and Part 2 and never regained it.

I agree with you on the editing of part two. Spineless. It is called 'appeasement'. I tip my hat to O'Neill and Kirk--as for the rest, spineless, including Condi and Cheney if what was depicted is true, remember I said, IF it is true.

ABC made Clarke look like a hero, NOT! Just more liberal pump. And if we were to grade this film................well I give it a "C-" at best. ABC made sure we knew that the film did not represent the views of the network. HEH! Wooses are scared that they will be sued. It always boils down to money, their little film 'proved that'. I am so disgusted with what transpired prior and up to 9/11 I could puke.

P.S. I don't know if anyone caught Charlie Gibson's intro to the President's speech. (Paraphrasing) "This speech is billed as non-political. We'll let you be the judge of that." How very MSM of him.

I saw that Schadow and yes, very msm of him. Soooooooo 'politically correct' and how much more 'staged' can it get? Pathetic.

I am sorry, but I am just thoroughly down tonight. I could wrangle the necks of every one of those that let, or should I say, ALLOWED 9/11 to happen. The buck stops with 'bureaucracy', 'hypocrisy', 'ego', and last but not least, MONEY.

People died because of irresponsibility and as for Albright........I cannot say what I think of her here at the forum nor any other **** selfish politician/official be they Democrat or Republican that were nothing less than WOOSES! It really makes me sick. 9/11 should NEVER have happened-it did not have to happen. They all in one way or another have blood on their hands.

If there was a 'hero' -- It was only John O'Neill. May he rest in peace and God bless him for all he tried to do. So sad, so horribly sad.

The script for part II MUST have come from Clarke's self-aggrandizing book.
And what's with that centennarian in the role of Cheney? Looked old enough to be Cheney's grandfather!

In all, it was a decent movie. However, much like the rest, I don't think they were very flattering to either Condi or Cheney. And, when did Richard Clarke become the hero of 9/11 and took charge while others just wondered what to do?

He must have wrote that part in himself Wink

In the end, I think it shows just how encumbered our government has become by bureaucratic red tape as well as PC.

As we look beyond the movie, we see obstacles and interference everywhere we try to implement any steps and discovery or prevention of the next attack.

They showed poor results in implementation of the 9/11 Commission recommendations, but they didn't add why.

I'll be interested to see how many Liberals laud the second part while denouncing the first part tomorrow. Very Happy

Good call, Shawa,

that was the one thing that stood out above all else to me as well...that and of course, Clarke's ego! And the most conspicously absent theme were the 8 months of stonewalling by the Senate in not confirming Bush's cabinet choices, so the US government could 'begin' after the election. By default allowing Clintonistas to remain in power centers...Tenet, et al. 2000-2001 had to be the most painful transition ever! That also could have emboldened the enemy. Clearly a display of weakness following on the 8 year display! None of which came out in the movie...even Clarke's demotion was downplayed and his later role up-played (by Clarke's script pen obviously)!
Yep, the communist ABC Newsteam was in full spin mode in part II...I don't think 'Entertainment' was allowed the control as in part I.

Oh, and the most important omission, at least in my eyes and perhaps some of yours, was ABC's missed opportunity to promote 'the hero' of 9/11, Rick Rescorla (his picture was on the cover of Hal Moore's "We were soldiers once, and young", but then, all of you know that don't you!). (single handedly saved all but 6 of the 2700 Morgan Stanley Dean Witter employees who worked in WTC). Dunno if any of you caught any of the other documentaries, many of which obviously included that bit of positive US History from 9/11.

Yep, that's a Black Eye for ABC as far as I'm concerned...we wouldn't want to cast the US in a positive eye, now would we, ABC?

Finally, I for one immediately switched over to FOX to listen to our President, so I missed Gibson's impersonation of Castro Osama bin Laden!

I watched this material. I recorded this material. When I get home
this evening, I'm simply going to hit the "delete" function on my recorder
and dump it from my hard drive. Nothing to learn from this material.

It may or may not have been too nuanced for the general public but I sensed the movie left President Bush standing in sharp contrast to the indecision, foggy legal musing, CYA obsessed, politically motivated portrayals of all but the real and created (Clark) heros. When Masoud asks "Are there any men in Washington?" my first reaction was "there are now". When the comment was made about fighting a "law and orderly war" In my mind at least that itentified what the libs and MSM are still doing by opposing our President. Maybe such things were a bit subtle but they reassured me that, as encumbered by red-tape and political infighting as he may be, our President is leading. (It was sweet music to hear the President talk in his address about eliminating "the wall" that was so much a part of the Clinton era as shown in the movie). Great timing.

The depictions of Rice and Cheney were so contrived it was obvious, especially when Clark appears in person during the followup commentary. But again, the question is...did the general public get it?

BTW a couple details showing a lack of attention to detail in the movie. Navy F-14s were never involved. Fifteen minutes from Selfridge in a tail chase of a plane going 600 knots? Come on. F-15s were launched long before portrayed and almost got to the second WTC plane. With no relevent ROE they may have had to just watch it hit but by the time of United 93 the ROE was in place, not after the fact as portrayed. The heroics of the crew and passengers not only began the fight back but probably saved an F-15 pilot from having to live with having to kill fellow countrymen and women.

I don't blame you one bit. Delete it and forget it. In the end, this non-fiction, fictionalized film is not worth the salt they claimed it to be. In retrospect it would have been better for ABC/Disney to donate that forty million dollars spent to create that so-called drama- to the War On Terror- Homeland Security et al that work to keep us safe. All this movie did was exploit and taint the truth, but as I said previously, the truth hurts and in the end the truth prevails.
