My Dad may have hit the nail on the head here.
Why did GW join the TANG?
He already went to Harvard and had graduated by that time. He wasn't going to attend the air force academy or Naval academy, but he needed to follow in his Dad's foot steps like many boys do, right?
He was a college grad and could become a flight officer. What better way to become a fight pilot?
He goes on to become a top notch pilot and volunteered to fly in Nam, but was turned down.
He gets glowing reviews by his trainers and exec officers.
He is the real all American boy who believe in his country unlike Kerry who was raised to be cynical didn't do well in his service.
It's all speculation on my Dad's part, but who knows? Maybe GW needs to let this story out in some endearing way if there is any validity to it?
