I cannot imagine why Dan Rather had to fly all the way to Texas to do a short interview with Bill Burkett unless it was to deliver a very big paycheck to take the fall. It just gets curioser and curioser.
Just who does have the rat by the tail here? _________________ Nomorelies Make a donation HERE |

I doubt that there was a financial payoff, but I do feel that they had to have a meeting before the "interview" to get their stories straight. Most likely this Burkett fellow is taking the fall to minimize any embarrassment to the Kerry campaign. I do note that Joe Lockhart has within the last hour or so acknowledged talking to Burkett. |

Ok. So then read the quote of the email from Bill Burkett to Max Cleland. What did Burkett mean about "not spending any money?" And, if he was hinting that he needed payment for the documents, Max Cleland may have instructed Mary Mapes to get in touch with Joe Lockhart at the DNC to take care of that matter. There is something here. I just know it.
Quote: | "I asked if they wanted to counterattack or ride this to ground and outlast it, not spending any money. [Mr. Cleland] said counterattack. So I gave them the information to do it with," Mr. Burkett wrote. |
