CBS actually hasn't acknowledge the documents were forged nor that they are untrue

The statements issued yesterday by CBS's Andrew Heyward and Dan Rather are quintessentially Clintoniques ~

CBS News President Andrew Heyward:
"Based on what we now know, CBS News cannot prove that the documents are authentic, which is the only acceptable journalistic standard to justify using them in the report."

CBS News Anchor/Managing Editor Dan Rather:
"We can no longer vouch for their authenticity."

Essentially, CBS acknowledges that they are unable to "prove that the documents are authentic" so they cannot " vouch for their authenticity" and, because of this, should not have aired them.

One thing I learned from the Impeachment of Clinton is that, when it comes to public mea culpas, it is very, very important to pay very, very close attention to exact wording ~ ("Well, that all depends upon what is IS")

Take a closer look at the CBS statements from yesterday ~
CBS is still a very, very long way from acknowledging that the "questionable" documents they eagerly disseminated and vehemently defended are forgeries and are untrue.

The FORGED Documents are still up on the CBSNews website, as of this morning! Waiting for proof of "authenticity."

Rather says that even though the documents are fake, we should believe the content.

They say that Burkett has a history of mental illness, but I have my suspicions about Rather too.

That is a legal prevarication. To call them forgeries is to invite criminal prosecution.

They are trying to weasel out of having to turn over their source, and still keep the fiction of the content front page material.

There are a LOT of people out there that STILL think the forged documents have "valid content", regardless of the source or whether or not the documents have any basis in fact.

It's a said commentary that these people will go out and vote to turn our country over to the Taliban, the Mullahs, and kowtow to terrorists.

And the blame rests squarely on the broad shoulders of that traitor, Dan Rather.

Rather tried to portray himself as a victim who was misled. The only victims are the American people who have been misled by Rather and CBS for the better part of this year. Rather has been part of a conspiracy at CBS to smear President Bush and get him defeated in November. It is self evident that he was the misleader by ignoring the warnings from some of his own experts that the documents were forged, by not allowing the Killians or anyone else who could cast doubt on his story to be interviewed and by misleading those who originally supported his story until they realized they had been duped by Blather. This man is a journalistic disgrace who ought to be run right off television.

Well, based on what we now know Heyward is probably going to need another job, soon, as will Mapes and Josh Howard. Rather will always be a laughing stock.

They didn't come clean, it's true. I suggested what they might have said - but they did not.

Just like many on the Kerry side of the fence, Rather is not particularly any more qualified than anyone I've seen posting to this site. In fact, he's much less qualified than many I've seen here. Rather graduated from a small mediocre teachers' college in Texas and dropped out of the University of Houston and South Texas School of Law (Rather's Bio). He also quit the Marines after 44 days and still claims to have been one. Quitting and lying is a pattern for him as evidenced by the Westmoreland smear in 1982, the Vietnam veteran smear in 1988 and now the documents that he cannot bring himself to admit are forgeries. He's a nobody who wants to be king and he should just follow his pattern and quit.

It would appear that Dan Rather learned nothing from Nixon.

RAthER claimed for a long time to have been a "two-tour Marine," until B. G. Burkett exposed his military record for what it was in "Stolen Valor."

He enlisted in the NG while in college, then when the Korean war was over, he went into the Marines, but couldn't handle the physical stuff.

RAthER counted his time in the NG as one tour and his failed attempt at boot camp as another to come up with "two-tour Marine."

Like Kerry's "two tours in Vietnam," which has recently become simply a "Tour of Duty."

So the next question is "Who forged the documents?"

Burkett looks like the primary suspect.

Love to know who. It'll explain a lot.
