In the last few days during the turmoil of the CBS debacle, I have heard several people on TV say that one of the reasons that the Kerry campaign was supposedly so slow to "counter" the initial Swift Boat Veterans' ads was because the Kerry campaign insiders concluded that the MSM would "handle" /"debunk" / "discredit" / (can't remember the exact word, and it probably varied from speaker to speaker) the Swiftboat allegations for them. Only last night there was Newsweek writer who said this on BOR. (Recall, that several sources have openly speculated on the tube that the CBS story and the "Priviledged Son" campaign was to counter the Swift Boat damage.)
Anybody seen a link, or any kind of documentation, that could be used to back up the "fact" that the Kerry campaign really did consider the MSM to be in their hip pocket, and looking after the interests of the Kerry campaign?
Connecting the dots .... Isn't this the REAL revelation of the whole MSM refusal to take the SBVFT's seriously, and possibly be the motivation behind CBS's now-scandalized "scoop"?
Think about it. GWB is relatively well-known after having served 4 years as President. John Kerry, on the other hand, was relatively unknown to general public. Have you seen any MSM independent reporting or fact-finding on any aspect of John Kerry's checquered career? How could CBS have possibly justified "five years of investigation and expense" in the ANG story -- which was old news, and even if true, not that much a story -- and not have spent one red cent on any aspect of Kerry's career? |
