So we know the following:
1) Burkett met/called/talked with the Kerry people.
2) Burkett gave CBS the forged documents and can't produce the source.
3) Kerry then gives interviews to two CBS shows; Dr. Phil and Letterman.
It ain't money that is the payoff. It is national media exposure in a warm and cuddly environment. What does that cost I wonder. I wonder if it is even for sale?
I think that in Latin it is called 'Quid Pro Quo'.
I smell a rat folks, and the little guys turds are all over the desks at the Kerry headquarters (I assume that you have to be pretty high up to have arranged the 'interviews'), CBS (several folks from programming and the news department), and several other media outlets (like those other folks who got the faxed documents) who were slow out of the gate, or did not check their answering machines. If Buckhead had not been so quick, there would have been volumes written to disparage Bush, TANG, and various dead folks. |

Funny - that was one of Clinton's favorite words. |

There's an interesting article in the Washington Times that spells out the quid pro quo. The article pieces together the Labor Day weekend sequence of events as follows:
Friday 3 Sept: Burkett hands Mapes & Smith of CBS 2 of the 6 documents. Quid pro quo established: Burkett wants conduit to Kerry campaign, before handing over the other 4 docs.
Saturday 4 Sept: Mapes provides Burkett's phone number to Lockhart and suggests he phone Burkett, fulfilling the CBS end of the bargain.
Sunday 5 Sept: Apparently satisfied by Lockhart's call (heh--we know the Clintonistas give great phone), Burkett hands over the remaining 4 documents to Smith of CBS.
Done deal. This leaves a little under 3 days to authenticate the documents before the 60 Minutes II show airs on Sept 8th.
