Actually, the debate topic for Thursday is Foreign Policy. I doubt either candidate will bring up Vietnam. And you can be sure the moderator will not.

I'm willing to bet Kerry will in some form or another (ie, "Well, I have been in a war, and I know firsthand...yada, yada, yada).

It would be fun to start a pool or a poll to see how many people think he will, and how many times he will do it! Laughing

Bush will be better served to read off all of Kerry's shifts on Iraq--well, maybe not, he wouldn't have the time.

Why after three purple hearts he can snowboard and wind-surf well into his 50's when many men who earned just one purple heart were fortunate if they could walk or carry on a normal life.

How four months of questionable service on a boat in the water over 30 years ago makes him more qualified to fight a war today in the desert.

How he can be qualified to lead the country when he can't lead his own campaign.

How he can convince foreign countries to join our forces in Iraq when he can't get a clear message out to his own voting public ( and party ).

Why the escalating violence by insurgents in Iraq wasn't as important to him when he got off of Vietnam and starting talking about the economy.

Why he has to further explain each and very position he claims to be so clear and consistent on.

Did Botox really give him that long "horse-face" he walks around with.

And finally....when he took reporters to a sporting goods store to buy a jockstrap, was the purchase for himself, or was it for Theresa?

Does Kerry still think the UN should oversee our election?

Does Kerry believe the elected president of the US and the elected Congress of the US should ascertain threats and respond to them, or does he believe, as he has indicated, that the un-elected UN should be the final arbiter of what the US can do to "legally" defend herself?

What specific things would Kerry do to assure the Iraqi people he will stand with them in forming a representative republic? Will he increase or decrease force strength in the region? Why? What criteria will he be using to make those decisions? Will he listen to the generals in theater, or will he run the war from the State Dept and oval office? Does he have a pull-out target date in mind, and what criteria must be met before there is a withdrawl of US forces in Iraq? (And don't give me that cow plop about coalition forces and UN peacekeppers, the UN can't even run a rice giveway in Jamaica)

When Kerry says he "would have done nearly everything differently wrt Iraq, what specific things would Kerry have done differently? Name three (3). Explain why those three (3) things would have given a more desirable outcome.

Is Kerry willing to state categorically, publicly, and on the record that President Bush deliberately lied to the American public by saying he believed Saddam had WMD? Follow up: Will Kerry then base future potential foreign policy decisions on the say-so of anti-American dictators, rather than on the best available US intelligence? What potential problems does Kerry anticipate this may cause the US and her allies?

Kerry has said repeatedly that Bush acted rashly and without the sanction of the "international community" There are currently 31 nations involved and supporting us in Iraq. That being the case, which "international community" is Kerry referring to? Follow on question: should nations that were involved in the "Oil for Food" scandal such as France and Germany be given much credence in their protestations over the US actions which have removed Saddam from power?

Are we better off without Saddam in power? Yes or no--no prevarication, Kerry--just "yes" or "no".

How soon after you are elected president will you begin to give contracts to France and Germany, rewarding them for their deceit and treachery in Iraq? I know Mrs. Heinz-Kerry has interests in several overseas companies; will you or your wife personally profit from any of these contracts?

How will you deal with a nuclear Iran? A nuclear Korea?

What will you do specifically to deal with the growing threat of Islamic extremists around the world? Is weakness and waffling, compromise and appeasment likely to win the "hearts and minds" of the people in areas controlled by Islamists? Or will strength, clarity, and consistency be more likely to carry the day?

Bush's job is to drag Kerry over these points until Kerry is bleeding from every orifice of his body, as well as having multiple new ones to bleed from. Bush better play hardball, and point out Kerry's weaknesses in these areas. War or no war, Kerry's "vision" of US foreign policy is far from what most American's want. Now Bush's job is to explain that.
