WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry
(news - web sites), citing the war in Iraq (news - web sites) and
other trouble spots in the world, raised the possibility Wednesday
that a military draft could be reinstated if voters re-elect President
Bush (news - web sites).

Kerry said he would not bring back the draft and questioned how fairly
it was administered in the past.

Answering a question about the draft that had been posed at a forum
with voters, Kerry said: "If George Bush (news - web sites) were to be
re-elected, given the way he has gone about this war and given his
avoidance of responsibility in North Korea (news - web sites) and Iran
and other places, is it possible? I can't tell you."

Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and other Pentagon (news - web
sites) officials have been asked numerous times whether they thought a
draft would be necessary to maintain force levels in Iraq. They have
said consistently that they think it is neither necessary nor
desirable, since today's military is built on volunteer service and
professionalism.

Look, Kerry's solutions are kind of complex and nuanced. And Kerry is
not going to publish the proof of his plan before he needs to. Kerry
knows that Bush will go for the draft to up the number of available
troops. But Kerry doesn't have to be reduced to mere mathematical
constraints. Kerry knows the calculus of troop management and when he
becomes the commander-in-chief will simply make it happen without
using a system called a "draft."

It's elementary.
Bush = draft = bad
Kerry = calculus = good

Hell, as good as JFK is, he just might be able to add 80,000 troops to
the Army.

You sidestepped my question. You would evidently have everybody believe that Kerry is simply going to wave a magic wand and increase troop numbers without a draft. You're in a fantasy world just like your "hero" Kerry is.

Kerry has all these plans. I.E. add 40,000 troops, cut the deficit by half, make the world one big happy place. But only if he is elected.

Kerry's huge promises and the lack of focus regarding them is a prime example of how biased MSM is. He's always saying I'll do this, and I'll do that, and I'll create something else. In his next breath he's b****ing about Bush, the war, and the deficit (like the two latter aren't connected). Everyone knows his promises are bloated, and will cost trillions to implement if they were in fact true. Yet the MSM never questions how he plans to do these things, or how he plans to pay for these things while reducing the budget. Could it be he plans to tax the **** out of all of us like a typical democrat to make Uncle Teddy proud? Damn straight.

But the MSM knows this also, so they won't report it. Bottom line with Mr. and Mrs. America is always going to be the dollar. Take the war, take education. When it comes right down to it, if he stood in front of the microphone and declared that the road ahead is difficult, so if elected I need to take another 10% of your income to fund these policies I've promised, his political life would die on the spot.

Isn't it interesting that Rep. Rangel (D-NY) introduces a house bill to reinstate the draft and then Sen. Kerry then accuses Pres. Bush of having secret plan to bring back the draft.

I would like to see the following dialog in the upcoming debate:

Pres. Bush: I am aware that Rep. Rangel has introduced a bill to reinstate the draft. In reponse to your accusations that Republicans have secret plans to bring back the draft, I asked Ed Gillespie to send over Rep. Rangel's application to join the Republican party to my office for my comments. He replied that he hadn't seen it yet.

But then, by your own admission, Senator Kerry ... you are much smarter than I am.
