This should be published in the local rag - New Bern Sun Journal - sometime this week. I hope I was not too harsh on the lad! Yeah right.
The presidential debates provide Mr. Kerry a stage to finally tell the truth about his actions in Vietnam and defamatory statements about fellow Veterans upon return. He’s made a brief Vietnam tour and consequent “military experience” campaign centerpieces, so we can rightfully insist on minimal truth.
Kerry’s obligations are:
· Voluntarily return the Silver Star with the acknowledgment that shooting a lone, wounded teenager in the back is not an act of heroism worthy of any American warrior.
· Acknowledge his Purple Heart injuries never required medical treatment beyond a Band-Aid and that, in all instances; these injuries were self-inflicted, coming from his own weapons. Further, because these Purple Hearts were falsely awarded, he should not have skipped out of Vietnam leaving others behind to do his duty. Voluntary return of these medals is (gulp) the honorable choice.
· Sign the Dept of Defense Form 180 releasing the remainder of his military records. Stop his weaseling and mumbling around. We know what the 180 Form is and so does he. Sign It. Period.
· Acknowledge his “Christmas in Cambodia" fairy tale is patently and altogether false. He never was in Cambodia over Christmas or at all. Furthermore, his testimony on this subject before the United States Senate in 1986 was politically motivated and identically without an iota of voracity.
· Openly apologize for his despicable conduct and testimony before the US Senate in 1971; the blanket indictment of fellow veterans and flinging away venerable medals and ribbons.
Years back, Jane Fonda had the “intestinal fortitude” to attempt an apology to Vietnam Vets.
What about it, Lieutenant Kerry, how’s your patriotic manliness these days?
