OK. I was in DC for my brothers wedding. A good enough excuse for me to go to the Mall and pay my respects.
So the missus and I land in DC and drop our bags at the hotel and head straight for the Mall...Vietnam Vet Memorial...her idea! (Gotta love her for that!)
Along the way is the WWII Memorial. For those of you going to DC, or even thinking about it...
This is the BIG ONE! Absolutely AWESOME!
In daylight or night. A beautiful display of the finest of things that America stands for. A terrific period piece. The most moving aspect was the bronze relief pictures on each side of the memorial depicting our GI's doing the Lord's work.
Just as moving was the multitude of "Old Warriors". Our heroes being wheeled around in wheel chairs, walkers, or being helped along by their relatives. Finally seeing the tribute they deserved.
I have a few pics. Can I post them?
If you think you want to go to DC...DO IT!
Oh Yeah. My brother's wedding...it was o.k. _________________ A willing tool of the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" since 1981. |
