This has been mentioned in a couple other discussions, but I really feel it deserves a thread of its own.

AnySoldier.com is a site that connects people who want to support our troops with contacts in our military stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries. It gives detailed information on what items are needed by what units, along with direct mailing information. Depending on where groups are stationed, there is a constant need for everything from snack foods and personal hygiene items to DVD's and warm socks (winter's coming!) You can read the latest email from the contact soldiers and Marines, so you know exactly where your gift is going.

It's simply an awesome project and is so rewarding on both the giving and receiving ends! I sponsor a fan-club based forum and earlier this year, our members joined together to work on this project. It was so exciting to send 20+ boxes of everyday items that we take for granted, but are so appreciated by our men and women in uniform. Some of the guys also accept medical supplies and baby items that are used in the local OB/Gyn hospital where they help out.

Please... take a minute to visit the site and do what you can, whether it's a package or simply a letter of thanks. As they say on the site, it's about support, not just stuff!.
