I read this, but i dont know what was the point of it though. Is it supposed to show Kerry is hiding income on his taxes by using cayman holdings? _________________ John Kerry, R.I.P. (Rot In Paris) |

The DNC/Kedwards campaign has made many statements about corporate offshore investing loopholes --- now it is found that Kerry has one of these corporations...
flip flop hipocrasy once again -- surprise surprise
From: http://www.johnkerry.com/pressroom/releases/pr_2004_1003a.html
"Citing recent studies that show U.S. companies are sheltering profits and shipping jobs overseas to avoid paying U.S. taxes at a record rate, Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry Sunday pledged to do what George Bush has not - crack down on corporate loopholes to save U.S. jobs and taxpayer money.
Kerry and John Edwards have a three-part plan to crack down on companies that outsource jobs and offshore their profits to avoid paying taxes. They will establish a new Office of Offshore Tax Enforcement at the Treasury Department to investigate offshore corporate tax avoidance and help develop new regulations. They will also close loopholes like the Bermuda tax loophole that allow companies to escape taxes by taking advantage of complicated international tax rules. Finally, they will eliminate special tax breaks so companies are taxed the same whether they invest abroad or at home."
Bermuda is just one of these offshore sites --- the Cayman Islands is the biggest offshore tax haven site. Looks like Kerry has personal experience on this activity. Substantially more than an $84.00 timber company dividend.

I doubt Kerry is against offshore investments(at least today), but he raised questions in the debates and on the "stump" of the unseemly nature of "big corporations" and "the rich" using similar vehicles to hide or "outsource" income from taxation. _________________ A willing tool of the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" since 1981. |
