Much has been made by the Kerry campaign of the need for more international help. For instance in his speech to the American Legion the senator said "... the United States needs to bring it's allies to its side to share the costs and burdens of the war, including those falling on American troops in Iraq."
Well I have news for you Mr. Kerry. We do have allies that understand the dangers we are facing and they do make sacrifices including the ultimate sacrifice.
On September 28th the British military who conduct operations under the name Operation Telic lost 2 of their own from an ambush of their convoy south-west of Basrah. The name of one of the soldiers has not been released pending notification of the family, but the other soldier was Corporal Marc Taylor. He was an 11 year veteran of the Corps of Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, a husband and a father. The convoy he was escorting was on it’s way to inspect a new housing project when it was hit with mortar attacks and small arms fire.
If you truly believe that our allies are not contributing to the war effort I have an assignment for you Senator. I’d like you to call this brave man’s family and explain to them why his sacrifice doesn’t really count and then call the families of all the other allied soldiers who have given their lives and tell them how the sacrifices of those brave men didn’t count either.
Of course this isn't the first time you've done this. You did the same thing when you demeaned the efforts of the South Vietnamese army during your anti-war years.
Do the right thing this time sir. Quit using twisted truths and lies that undermine the moral of both our allies and our troops. To much is at stake and you know as well as I do that the war on terror and the rebuilding of Iraq are not tasks we’re taking on alone. For the sake of the country and the world you should be truthful about this and quit undermining our war effort for your own political gain. _________________ Bill Hershey
