Whenever I try to play one of the Swiftie Ads I get the following error in Windows Media Player version 9:

C00D11CD: Unknown error
Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error. This can occur when another program or operating system component encounters a problem but does not communicate the nature of the problem to Windows Media Player.

Error ID = 0xC00D11CD, Condition ID = 0x00000000

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Thanks in advance. I work for an I/S department, but am not very strong on Media errors.

I think there is a new windows media player update.Maybe that would fix the problem.Also check which file types the windows media player is set to play.You can do that by running media player and checking the options on the tool bar menu at the top.

DUH?!? Sorry 'bout that. I'm using Win Media Player v.10.00.00.3646
I have all media set to go through that program and deleted another media player programs.

Using XP Pro all patches including SP2.

If all else fails, go to this website and download the free multimedia player "Irfanview". It plays just about every kind of format there is and even displays all types of images. It even allows you to tell it which formats to claim as the default player/viewer. It requires plugins for some formats, but you simply download the plugins file and install them (easy to do, pretty much automatic install if you can click "Next" and "OK").

There could be a couple of potential problems. First, it depends on which filetype you're trying to play. If you're attempting to play the .mov files in Media Player, it won't work. You'll need to download and install the newest version of Quicktime.

However, if it's a .wmv file you're attempting to play, it may be that you don't have the proper codec installed, or it didn't install properly. You can manually install some core Microsoft codecs with this package:

That file works with Media Player 7.1 and later, including the new version 10. That may fix the problem.

Please let us know if this fixes the problem.
