A 36-year-old man was fatally injured in a traffic crash today on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway in West Los Angeles, authorities said.

The crash, reported at 2:36 a.m., occurred on the eastbound side, at or near Bundy Drive, California Highway Patrol Officer John Seumanutafa said. TSGnews: The fatal victim, who died at the scene, lived in the Los Angeles area, said coroner's Lt. Richard Hanna. He has been identified but his name has not been released.

A female occupant of the vehicle survived the crash, he said.

According to Hanna, the vehicle the two were in ``left the freeway, struck several trees and came to rest against a chain-link fence.''
