|
|
Immediately after the last two debates the internet flash polls reported by the talking heads showed over 70% plus for Kerry. Later more legitimate polls lowered this to the 40s. Obviously there is an attempt to flood the internet polls ,probably with automated emails in an attempt to spin the results and affect opinions. Anyone have media or techy contacts that can check this out? |

Email from Terry McAuliffe
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are four critical things you can do to help beat the Republican spin machine.
Forward this email to family, coworkers, and friends.
Vote in online polls.
Write a letter to the editor.
Call radio and television stations.
Your 10 minutes of activism following the debate can make the difference. It is important that we double our efforts from the last debate, because the Republicans are now copying our strategy.
Vote in Online Polls
National and local news organizations will be conducting online polls during and after the debate asking for readers' opinions. Look for online polls at these news websites, and make sure to vote in every one of them:
CNN: http://www.cnn.com/
MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/
Wall Street Journal: http://www.wsj.com/
LA Times: http://www.latimes.com/
Akron Beacon-Journal: http://www.ohio.com/
Minneapolis-St. Paul Star-Tribune: http://www.startribune.com/
Orlando Sentinel: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/
Philadelphia Inquirer: http://www.philly.com/
South Florida Sun-Sentinel: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/
And be sure to check the websites of your local newspapers and TV stations for online polls. It is crucial that you do this in the minutes immediately following the debate."
This is all I could find. They have sent a similar message out prior to both of the debates.

Psychologically, this strategy works. It actually affects the legitimate polls too. The viewers see all these overwhelming numbers for Kerry and when they are called they go with what they think is the prevailing view.
A good example is the first debate when two of the most respected and politically astute observers (Charlie Cook and Larry Sabato) gave Bush the win and the other declared a draw. Don Imus thought it was a slam dunk win for Bush until he got to his work station the next day and was informed that all the polls showed Kerry the clear winner. Jim Nance, a CBS sports announcer, told Imus the pundits had influenced him and the viewer.
Sadly, many of our own in the punditry world succumbed to this pack mentality. Even Rush Limbaugh on his Friday show alluded that he too may have been a victim. |

also, I saw on the Kerry site blog, that they are multiple voting ! they clear the cookies and continually revote.
Brit Hume mentioned the other day that they received emails that Edwards had won the debate - before the debate even started!!!! _________________ Stevie

So the best thing may be to have your web page on one or more polls and then vote. On some pages you may have to clear the history and delete files plus cookies to vote again in the same polls. Does anyone know how to vote automatically without having to manually reset the page? |

In addition to voting, clear cookies and vote again, they are also using "bots" or (to be more accurate technically) scripts that vote multiple times.
The thing that stinks is that people like MSMBC are reporting their online poll results as legit news. _________________ Whose side is John Kerry really on? Take this quiz and decide for yourself.

Face it! In the last few months the "traditional" MSM/OIM has moved from a position of being biased, but still trying to appear to be objective, to a position of outright partianship. They really make no bones about it anymore - evidence the CBS Rathergate, and the most recent memo from ABC. Etc., etc. Newsweek, and all the big magazines are either biased or outright partisan, and make no apologies. The NYT, Boston Globe, and LA Times are outright partisan, and many, many other newspapers are either biased or partisan, or heavily use articles and op-ed pieces from NYT, Boston Globe, and LAT.
The game, and its rules, has completely changed in this election. The facade of objectivity and non-bias in reporting is gone, and the MSM/OIM make no bones about it.
Only Fox represents some sanity, but their mantra of "Fair and Balanced," coupled with very little in-depth reporting, means that they merely put up two talking heads, one each representing the spin-meisters of both sides. There's no news or facts in that format. It's practically useless!
There's no way in H*** that we can do anything about it in the next 3 weeks. But after this election, it's pretty darned clear that there has to be a market for a Conservative cheerleading network or two, and that they don't have to be excessively concerned about appearing to be "Fair and Balanced" to the Liberals. (I'd like to hear some truth, but I don't think "fair and balanced" is an obligation to air liberal spin - or as Sgt. Friday used to say: Facts, Ma'am, just the facts!)
It's really a sad state of affairs, but a large percentage of the population in this country wouldn't know what "fair and balanced" was if their lives depended upon it. Else there would have been a public demand for insightful reporting on the career of a relatively unknown candidate prior to this election (and I'm not talking about exposure of what we know - just enough of a crack in the door to start some interest into Kerry's possible dubious records).
Yeah, I'm frustrated, too! This election has exposed a lot that is wrong with our system, and it has to be fixed, but that's not gonna happen in the next 3 weeks. |

In the topic within this forum that is dedicated soley to the discussion of the second debate, it was suggested that when we vote in these online polls immeditately after the debate that we should all vote for Kerry thus heavily weighting the outcome to as close to 100:0 as possible to prove just how biased these online polls are. I myself am rather iffy on which way to go with it, but I thought I'd toss this in for ya'll to determine what it's worth. Who knows, if we try that then the demo leadership may say vote Bush for the same reason..... catch 22. :? _________________ Support Our Troops - Tons of organized links on a .mil site

I totally agree here.
By everybody viting for Kerry here, it will give any sane outsider the perosception that it IS rigged, more than anything else. When a CNN poll shows (1/2 hour after it is over) that Edwards beat Cheney by 88 to 12, then something CLEARLY is messed up!! _________________ ---Prince Lazar---
