I watched the Niteline feature yesterday and have this to say about it: I'm sorry, it just didn't seem unreasonable. It's funny, though, because it is essentially a non-story - Kerry and O'Neill seem to agree on the major points, and if O'Neill is so mad about Kerry's medal, he really ought to take it up with the military office that awarded it to him.
But what kind of person is it that chases a man for thirty years trying to strip him of a medal because that man didn't want to see more fellow Americans die? And did no one notice... nothing happened! We pulled out of Vietnam and.... nothing. The world did not capitulate to communism. Russia fell, along with nearly all of her Eastern satellite nations. So wasn't pulling out really a pretty good idea?
Can we just accept this is about hunting powerful democrats?

Three million Vietnamese and Cambodians might disagree with you -- if they hadn't died at the hands of the Communists after we left. _________________ Bye bye, Boston Straggler! |

Welcome to the Swift Boat Veterans for TRUTH, agilson!
Here's some TRUTH for ya:
John Kerry is doing everything in his power to prevent any side but his own from being communicated to the American people. That alone is enough to make me certain he has a lot to hide. He cannot stand up to the scrutiny that should be applied as evenly to him as to those who are trying to exercise their rights to speak up.
You do favor free speech and freedom of the press, I assume?

Have you read anything here in the Nightline threads? How about the Winter Soldier forums?
This isn't about a single medal - this is about a lifetime of lying, twisting the record, filing fraudulent documents with the US Navy, negotiating with the enemy and bringing their propanganda back here to spew at our own Congress and on our own streets.
This is about somene who has betrayed our country since 1969!
And some of you want to give him access to our foreign policy and the control over the Armed Forces that he has been attempting to undermine for 30+ years! _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

agilson, I first came to this forum as a skeptic, too. Even if you chalk this dispute over this one firefight up to "fog of war", the total weight of information to be found here is stunning. |
