If true, this is very explosive. Is there documentation beyond just the recollections of one individual?

I agree with Truegrit...IF true. All of us here sure think he should of been stripped of much more at the time and now.

In the piece it says: "Kerry had been granted a Top Secret by the Navy on October 11, 1967 based on a routine background investigation....."
Top Secret clearances are never granted on ROUTINE background investigations, they take a Special Background Investigation (SBI). Well at least since the mid- 1970's (my experience).

If his clearance was yanked there would be documented "adverse information"...drug use alcoholism, homosexuality, financial distress among others including ALL that John Kerry did in the open!

If confronted with this issue, I would expect it would be mitigated by Kerry's minions as being a case of a routine downgraded clearance.

Without his signing the 180 we may never know.....

Exactly. It so maddening that the MSM would sue to find out if Bush missed a physical, but they won't even attempt to look into the serious questions about Kerry's service. Grrrr... Mad

THis really needs illuminating. It would be fabulous were ti true, and it all makes sense, along with the dishonorable discharge and re-issuing of the awards, but corroboration is critical.

I'm no expert on military clearences but the original Free Republic Blog does not sound correct. Kerry certainly does not list ever having a top secret clearence to begin with. That his secret clearence may have been puled when he left active duty is probable, he wouldn't need it anymore.

I don't think there is any issue here.
