SUBJECT: social security - who is going to take it away?

Franklin Roosevelt introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program.
Roosevelt promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of
their annual incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be
deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the independent "Trust Fund"
rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would only be
used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government
program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as
income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a
Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting
taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away,"
you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust"
fund and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social
Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding
vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US.

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to
immigrants?

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved
into this country, and at age 65, began to receive SSI Social Security
payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they
never paid a dime into it!

Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and violation of the original
contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans
want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!

Social Security is in trouble. There is no doubt about it. The current crop of retirees and near retirees will get their checks but subsequent generations are facing a real problem with empty coffers if things remain as they are now. Politicians have known about this for a long time but nobody wants to touch this issue because the fix is going to be expensive. This is another reason why Bush needs to be re-elected! Not only is his plan for fixing the system excellent (and the least expensive of any plan offered so far) but he will be in his last term with no need to worry about being re-elected and so he will be able to initiate a reform of social security he could not do in his first term (even if 9/11 had not happened to take much of his attention).

The Dems always pull the "Those Evil Republicans want to take your SS Away" from their old playbook so as to sacare the beejeebees out of grandma and grandpa. In reality, one only has to THINK a bit to realize

1) The SS system is a government run Ponzi scheme where monies put in at the botom of the pyramid (those under 65) are used to pay out checks to receipents, at least the money left after the General Fund has a crack at it. Ponzi schemes are illegal and their perpetrators get prision terms...unless the perp is the Federal Government. Evil or Very Mad

2) The SS system is inheriently racist. Why you may ask? Well, your average white American lives significantly longer than your average black American ergo, black Americans are paying disporportionaly for the retiringment of white Americans. Nevertheless black Dems will demogogue the SS system with the best of white Dems to the deteriment of "their people".

3) Taking into consideration monies put in for a lifetime plus inflation etc., the average rate of return a SS receipent realizes is a paltry 1%! You would do FAR BETTER putting in the same amount in a simple passbook account at your local S & L over your working years while at the same time helping the ecomony by allowing that S & L to make more loans for new business, homes, etc.

4) Too many Americans do not know the above and Nayo's facts about the beginings of SS. Why? Democratic propoganda and government schools.

If I were a twenty something (I'm 54), I would vote for Bush just
because of his forward thinking idea of allowing younger people
to invest a portion of their FICA as they see fit. Not only would
they get a much higher return on their money, this money would
actually be in an account that could be left to any beneficiary of
their choice when they die. There are many Americans who
believe in the fairy tale about the "Social Security Trust Fund".
They think that there is an account in Washington with their name
on it that will always be there. As mentioned already in this thread,
thanks to the Democrats, the FICA funds go into the general treasury
and not into a "lockbox". I don't see how they can even use terms
like that with a straight face! I have grave doubts that I will ever
receive the Social Security funds that I have paid in and I know
that the twenty somethings will never receive it unless something
drastic is done. John Kerry is using this as his latest "scare tactic"
and Joe Lockhart did the same today on Fox News Sunday. BTW,
that guy makes my skin crawl!!
