Just found on Drudge;
http://news.ft.com/cms/s/1138adf6-2076-11d9-af19-00000e2511c8.html
Some excerpts;
Quote: | More than 30 Canadian internet pharmacies have decided not to accept bulk orders of prescription drugs from US states and municipalities.
The move delivers a potentially serious setback to US politicians most notably Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry campaigning to give Americans easier access to cheap drugs from Canada.
“We don't want to give Americans the impression that we have unlimited supply for them to tap into on a commercial basis,” said David Mackay, the association's executive director. Americans, he added, “can't get everything from Canada. We can't be your complete drugstore”. |

Don't bank on it making the leftstream media anytime soon. It might take some steam out of his promises _________________ Clark County Conservative |

The concept of buying cheap drugs from Canada was almost a good idea. Canada buys drugs from US manufacturers at cost or at low profit margins. This works as long as the prices in the US are at a rate to subsidize this. When the US buys it's drugs from Canada at their prices, the whole house of cards comes falling down. The Canadians realize this and don't want the US to screw up their sweetheart deal. |

This whole Canadian drug issue was (and is) a farce from the start. If Canada has enough drugs to supply Canada with some left over for the US how long do you think the US drug company's are going to ship excess amounts to Canada?
What Canada is really afraid of (and that is why they are doing what this article states so as to nip the whole idea in the bud b/4 it starts) is that the drug company's will ship only enough to supply Canada's needs but the online pharmacy's will sell their supply to the US since they can sell it for more than the Canadian controlled price. Result: shortage in Canada and, thus, higher prices for scarce commodity. _________________ "And we will tell the terrorists, we will win and you will lose" and hope to hell they believe me.-John Kerry |

Exactly right! Kerry's plan to re-import drugs from Canada will result in the pharmaceuticals raising their prices to Canada in orderto keep their profit margin. They need that profit margin to cover the costs of ongoing research and testing on new drugs. If profits drop, they have to cut back on research or else raise the price.
