Sinclair to Air "A POW Story"

BALTIMORE (October 19, 2004) - Sinclair Broadcast Group (Nasdaq: SBGI)
announced today that on Friday, October 22, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m.
central time) certain television stations owned by Sinclair Broadcast
Group, Inc. will air a special one-hour news program, entitled A POW Story:
Politics, Pressure and the Media. In order to minimize the interruption of
normally scheduled programming in those markets where Sinclair owns and/or
programs more than one television station, the news special will be
broadcast on only one of those stations. A complete list of stations which
will be airing the program and the times of such broadcasts is attached.

The news special will focus in part on the use of documentaries and
other media to influence voting, which emerged during the 2004 political
campaigns, as well as on the content of certain of these documentaries.
The program will also examine the role of the media in filtering the
information contained in these documentaries, allegations of media bias by
media organizations that ignore or filter legitimate news and the attempts
by candidates and other organizations to influence media coverage.

Contrary to numerous inaccurate political and press accounts, the
Sinclair stations will not be airing the documentary "Stolen Honor"

Hmmm... looks like they had to back off due to the FCC's pressure.

This is not news. Sinclair never stated in the first place that they were airing the entire documentary. They said from the very beginning they were only using excerpts. Nothing is new here.

Agree with Ms. Diane. Count on this being a good piece, though, although it probably will not be a "full" showing of "Stolen Honor".

Sinclair Broadcasting is definately more Conservative.

Well it is news, sort of. Yesterday our local Sinclair station in the Tampa Bay area listed Stolen Honor as the program on Thurs. at 9:00pm, so at least one station thought it was official. That listing has now changed to the normal programming.

Where are the lawyers???? How can ABC run pro-Kerry show with Viet Namese Communists claiming Kerry's silver star is correct with only a short time for rebuttal? For that matter how can MSM news in general get away with a strong pro-Kerry slant? Who put the radical leftists in charge?

Lets go to the Sponserd and ask the 3 Kerry stations to air it.
If we all ask our local stations at one time the Request will be so huge it will make national news.
That will at least be bad for Kerry.
WE need to get the TRUTH out Some how about this man He is DIRTY DURTY DIRTY!

Actually, it's pretty clever of Sinclair to do a NEWS program about "Stolen Honor", because in doing so they don't HAVE to give Hanoi John any free air time under the "equal time" statute.

Of course, you KNOW that Hanoi John wouldn't try to refute the facts - instead, he'd use the time to flip flop more meaningless issues.

Good move, Sinclair! Laughing

Actually, folks this could be a HUGE program, if Sinclair chooses to structure it that way. Note their wording in the release:

Quote:
The news special will focus in part on the use of documentaries and other media to influence voting, which emerged during the 2004 political campaigns, as well as on the content of certain of these documentaries. The program will also examine the role of the media in filtering the information contained in these documentaries, allegations of media bias by media organizations that ignore or filter legitimate news and the attempts by candidates and other organizations to influence media coverage.

We've all been complaining about the media bias, and the usefulness of MSM. If I read those words correctly, it looks to me like Sinclair intends to include as a part of their show, exactly that.

Think about it. Sinclair for the last few weeks has literally been sitting on top of an "experimental laboratory" for media bias, and political intimidation tactics. They've undoubtedly been documenting the whole thing. Can you imagine what they're in a position to expose!

This has got the potential to be a double whammy. Not only expose "Stolen Honor," and all the issues surrounding it, but at the same time expose MSM and the intimidation tactics of Kerry's minions!

Now I only regret that I'm not in one of Sinclair's broadcast areas.
