While Kerry and the Kerry supporters pound the table, we can pound the truth
My letter published in Contra Costa Times (Sunday, October 3, 2004, Perspective, East Bay Voices)

Kerry's Betrayal
In his letter Sept. 16, J. Bruce Beauregard declared that "The swift boat allegations are almost certainly the direct product of the White House." I disagree. Beauregard's statement has no basis in fact.
I am a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran. I have worked on swift boats and been at sea on a swift boat.
This has nothing to do with the White House or Republicans. This has everything to do with John Kerry's betrayal and subversion. Communists in Hanoi, Bucharest and Moscow said that John Kerry's anti-war efforts aided their cause. Indeed, U.S. POWs were taunted and pressured by their torturers in Hanoi with clippings of Kerry's claims that they were war criminals. Kerry is now honored for his disloyalty and subversion in a communist museum. Kerry is unfit to be president.
Swift Boat Veterans For Truth is a relatively new organization, late but welcome arrivals to the discussion started by Vietnam War veterans after Kerry's decision to run for president based on one Pacific deployment in USS Gridley and four months in Vietnam as officer-in-charge of two swift boats.

| Wonderful letter, so glad that it got published. Every Veteran's letter that gets posted in the local press is worth it's weight in gold. |

Thanks. Contra Costa Times has a credibility problem as acknowledged by Times editor and Vice President John Armstrong in Sunday's edition. I contacted him and he wants to hear more from me. So I will be telling him that he will not solve the newspaper's credibility problem until he solves the culture problem at Contra Costa Times.
The culture problem extends to many of Contra Costa Times readers, as reflected in letters to the editor.
For example, today's letters included one from Terri Hinte of Richmond (California) in which Hinte wrote these selected quotes;
"Swift obfuscation..., Even as the swift boat gang and their allies in the Bush campaign and the media impugn and refute 35-year-old official Navy records of John Kerry's military service..., the Swifties' cockamamie notion that Lt. Kerry shot himself to earn one of his Purple Hearts... printing every piece of garbage the Swift ones have been dumping on Kerry."
The Contra Costa Times letters editors collaborated with Hinte in her slanderous attack, they wrote the title to Hinte's letter, "Swift obfuscation"

I intend to write another letter answering Terri Hinte's slanderous assertions, but right now I have a bigger fish to fry, namely editor John Armstrong's "credibility problem". Please re send all your non published letters to the editor once Kerry is defeated on 11/2/04. News rooms will be looking for stories to fill the post election void. It is also my opinion editors will be less willing to provide cover for Kerry once the election is over.
