You can protest the New York Times' failure to retract and clarify its erroneous reporting of the 380 tons of missing high explosives.
Write to Daniel Okrent at: public@nytimes.com
Here's the letter I sent to him:
"Dear Mr. Okrent,
In a very blatant effort to once again use the NYT news page to queer the election outcome, in favor of Kerry, you brought forward a story about missing high explosives in Iraq, implying that this stuff disappeared under the noses of coalition forces.
Yet the facts that are surfacing suggest that the stockpile had been moved before U.S. forces arrived on the scene in Spring 2003.
Why no retraction at the Times?
Are we facing the re-emergence of the Yellow Journalism of the turn of the last century, of the Hearst newspaper chain which rushed news headlines into circulation without proper fact checking, to stir up war hysteria over the sinking of the Destroyer USS Maine near Cuba? Is this the neo-Yellow Journalism of turn of the century, one century later?
I think you and the editors of the NYT need to do some real soul searching, or you will lose credibility with your readership.
