Springsteen, Bon Jovi Join Kerry Campaign

By Associated Press

October 26, 2004, 11:00 AM EDT

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Rocker Bruce Springsteen is joining Sen. John Kerry in the final days of his bid to become the nation's boss.

Springsteen plans to play a song or two at campaign rallies Thursday in Madison, Wis., and Columbus, Ohio, both in battleground states likely to determine the winner of the election. He'll join Kerry in Cleveland the night before Election Day.

Springsteen's song "No Surrender" has been one of several played daily at Kerry's campaign stops.

Jon Bon Jovi, another rock musician supporting Kerry, played a few songs to open rallies Michigan and Wisconsin on Monday and expects to rejoin the Massachusetts Democrat later this week. As he leaped atop a stage in a hotel parking lot at a late-night rally in Green Bay, Wis., Bon Jovi said, "Surprise," to several hundred chilled Kerry supporters.

"Thanks for coming out tonight," he said. "Eight days from now, you get the microphone. The world's going to be listening."

Duh.....like I care. Haven't seen too many entertainer interviews where I was impressed by their intellectual or moral views.

IMO, the original shock rocker Alice Cooper said it best:

Quote:
The 56-year-old Cooper says he was disgusted to learn the likes of Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, R.E.M., Sheryl Crow, James Taylor and Dave Matthews were hitting the road for a series of concerts designed to help defeat President Bush.

"To me, that's treason," Cooper told the Canadian Press. "I call it treason against rock 'n' roll because rock is the antithesis of politics. Rock should never be in bed with politics."

. . .

"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal."

Skerry had to do something to attract larger crowds and hold their interest. Yesterdays rally with Clinton was moved from a less convenient location to a location next to the city employees (Union Dems) municipal building. Also, city employees were given the time off for free (with pay) to go to the rally.

They need "names and faces' that have nothing to do with politics to attract interest.

President Bush on the other hand is drawing record/overflow crowds at every event --- at larger and larger venues.

This is news if you live in New Jersey, both bonjovi and springsteen live here (puke), rememember NJ in play. Will 2 washed up rock stars influence the state to elect a war criminal/forger/liar/plagiarist/opportunist/murderer as president? I dont think so.
