Most of the swift boat officers I have met over the years received command of a swift on their second tour. You hear nothing about John Kerry's military experience, except for the four months he racked up the medals. What did this guy do prior to his swift assignment?
Also, you see a lot of pictures of him in the jungle. It might be obvious from my questions that I do not have a military background, but if you are in command of a swift, don't you stay on the boat? |

Kerry served in USS Gridley, and did a WESPAC deployment which involved underway time in the Tonkin Gulf, that's how he comes up with "two tours of duty" in Vietnam in his public statements and in his book, and in the Kerry biography by Gang of 400 member Douglas Brinkley, all echoed repeatedly by Kerry sycophants in the press.
I've always found this odd, a deployment is a deployment, not a tour of duty, and a tour of duty would be the full assignment in USS Gridley, and a tour of duty in any U.S. Navy ship during the Vietnam War could involve several deployments.
Furthermore, I was assigned to CHNAVADGRP Saigon, then medevac, then returned to Vietnam at NAVSUPPACT Saigon, then reassigned to NAVSUPPACTDET Qui Nhon, and I say I had one tour of duty in Vietnam, but using John Kerry standards, I could say I had three tours of duty in Vietnam, but I won't, John Kerry is beneath my standards.
Recalling the days of FTA and FTN, I say FJK. _________________ I'm a U.S. Navy Vietnam War vet against John Kerry
