Last night's scheduled showing of the anti-Kerry film Stolen Honor: The Wounds That Will Not Heal at the Normandy Farms Conference Center in Montgomery County was canceled without notice or explanation.
Parking lot attendants at the Blue Bell center turned back traffic entering the conference center in advance of the scheduled 7 p.m. showing, which was to have included an appearance by its producer, Carlton Sherwood.
The attendants said no one from management was available, and phones in the office were not answered.
Sherwood could not be reached through his Harrisburg production company.
Stolen Honor, a 41-minute film focusing on the antiwar activities of John F. Kerry after his return from his combat tour in Vietnam, has been repeatedly blocked from being shown, in part because of a pending libel suit by a University of Delaware professor who appears on camera in old footage while a voice-over says some protesters had been "discovered as frauds."
A theater in Abington and a local cable-access show had previously canceled showings.
Sherwood said earlier that because of legal threats and fear of protesters, "nobody's talking about this before they show it."
Sherwood and the conference center had refused to say who rented the space or sponsored the showing.
The film is available for free viewing on the Web at www.stolenhonor.com.
Sinclair Broadcast Group, owner of 62 television stations nationwide, had planned to show it as a news program last week. But after threatened lawsuits, ad boycotts and shareholder revolts, the stations instead aired excerpts with material from other Kerry sources.

Some good news from here in Colorado. During our lunchtime here in Colorado our site manager is showing "Stolen Honor" in the cafeteria. It is going to be standing room only. By the way, it's not mandatory viewing, but it appears that everyone in the company will be in attendance up for the viewing. I'm mentioning this as good news and to give this idea of showing the documentary at work to others as well. _________________ Tony in Boulder, Colorado |
