I served aboard the USS Bordelon DD-881 while in Vietnam 1972-1973, where we participated in several combat operation's. I have fond memories of those events and need advise on obtaining combat after action reports. Our ship's website is asking crew members to share stories and would like to have written reports to back up mine. Can anyone help me? Thanks!!

Hi, Rusty. Welcome aboard.

My first on-line suggestion is to search the Vietnam Archives at Texas Tech. Go here: http://www.vietnam.ttu.edu/virtualarchive/index.htm

My next suggestion is to go to the Navy Archives in Washington, DC. All you need is your drivers license and you can bring a laptop and scanner, last I heard.

Next would be the National Archives in College Park, MD (near DC). That's not as likely to yield info.

You might also want to check out eBay. There are a lot of military sellers that have cruise books for sale. While not CARs, they often have pictures and narrative to back you up.
