Because Sinclair made a big deal of it and it's now too late for legal and consumer pressure to bear on it _________________ "It is never right to do wrong, even if sanctioned by law" Abe Lincoln

Update on the showing of the video -
The time was purchased by The Assembly Education Fund with assistance of a list of about 15-20 people in the OKC area (the names were read aloud and scrolled at the end of the presentation)
The General Manager of the station - which is based in OKC but broadcasts statewide - stated at the beginning of the show that he received 5 emails and 20 phone calls objecting to the show. He talked to all the people who called and 19 of them had already seen the video! HE mentioned that they looked at the video to ensure that it met their standards and it did.
The station mentioned that the time was purchased and that the opposition would also be given the opportunity to voice their opinion, but there was no comment about whether they accepted the offer.
After the video, there was a discussion with two veterans, one disabled, about their views. One was a purple heart receipant and mentioned that whenever he talks with another PH vet, he asks if they ever saw any misdeeds - only 1 out of 141 he talked to ever say any "misdeed" by our guys. The second vet mentioned that Kerry should have reported misconduct and was in violation of the military rules for not doing so. He also referred to Kerry going to Paris and his meetings there with the NVN.
The third guest was a representative from a conservative PAC. He mentioned that Kerry had a national microphone to broadcast his accusations and the returning vets did not have a cance to reply. He said that people needed to make efforts to look for the truth and mentioned using the internet to do so.
At the end, the GM mentioned again that he had had the phone calls and emails and that the opposition had been given the opportunity to respond.
I emailed a note of thanks the the manager.. I am hoping that others who watched it also thanked them.. |
