A doctor, Louis Letson, repeats accusations he made in newspaper interviews this spring that Mr. Kerry did not deserve his first Purple Heart because his wounds resulted from a ricochet off friendly fire, saying in the advertisement, "I know John Kerry is lying about his first Purple Heart because I treated him for that injury." The Kerry campaign pointed out yesterday, as it had previously, that another doctor, J. C. Carreon, signed Mr. Kerry's treatment record.

pssssst...Ms. Wilgoren...J. C. Carreon wasn't a physician. He was an enlisted "hospitalman" at the facility where Dr. Letson treated Kerry.

Fresh criticism of the senator's record in Vietnam is dismissed by his campaign.

Meehan questioned Letson's role, saying a J.C. Carreon signed Kerry's medical report of the wound. "This gentleman is not the man who is on the report," he said.
Letson said Carreon, a lower-ranking "hospitalman," was "present at the time and he, in fact, made the entry into Lt. Kerry's medical record which has only recently been made available to the public." Letson, 63, was a Navy lieutenant as well as a medical officer at the time.

Apparently Ms. Wilgoren is as clueless on this subject as she was 3 months ago....

Kerry aides immediately dismissed the new group as a tool of President Bush's re-election campaign and accused it of engaging in "Nixonian dirty tricks."
Regarding Dr. Letson's recollection of Mr. Kerry's wound, Michael Meehan, a campaign spokesman, noted that a different person, J. C. Carreon, had signed the "sick call sheet" summarizing treatment of the injury, and asked, "Who is this guy? How do we know that he was the doctor who treated him?"

Let them do it!! Let them spout and tout the Carreon angle. Let them bring it out in full light.
Then, when all the interest is there we simply point out that the "wound" was such that it was fully treated by a corpsman petty officer. Gee, just how serious what that? _________________ Why ask? Because it needs asking. |

According to Letson, he treaded the "wound". Carreon did the paperwork. Happens all the time, at least in the Navy I was in. _________________ On Sale!
