John Kerry would be President today if you men had not done what you did. I gave money, I made a little mocking movie, but you men suffered decades of ridicule and shame. At a time when America needed strong leadership and a lesser man might have ridden to power on the doubts of a reflective people, you turned your righteous anger into action.

On one last patrol, you old salts pulled our chestnuts out of the fire. God bless you. Only He knows how many of your countrymen will be spared.

It has been a honor to know you, even so far removed.
