The SwiftVets and POWs established the mission to prevent Kerry from becoming CinC through exposing his activities and exaggerations. That mission has been accomplished with most observers crediting the swifties and supporters with having fired the decisive rounds. Perhaps it is time to decommission the organization, title and efforts, a decision properly left to the founders.
That said I have two observations.
What a swell, dedicated, patriotic, committed, responsible and intelligent bunch of people this effort and site have brought together While maybe this magnificent "ship" needs to be renamed and the course adjusted she should not be scrapped while threats remain.
Threats and targets remain. Kerry retains power as a Senator and will continue to be provided a forum for his socialist/internationalist leanings.
The MSM bias and influence remain. Many citizens believe those who serve/served are "babykillers" and/or do/did serve because they couldn't do anything else (honor, responsibility, etc. seem alien to far too many).
I believe we should continue to demonstrate Kerry was a collaborator, that he MAY have manipulated his awards and discharge and that his personal honor is questionable lest we have some future Kerry grasping the pillars of power in America. We should continue refuting the continuing MSM assertions that UFC and our ads were lies, distortions, etc.
(the latest being Kerry should have so demonstrated back in August, as if he could have). We could be further shining example of what service is.
There are multiple threads in several forums indicating broad support for keeping this "ship" underway. I pledge to stand my watches and again signal to RB Shirley and his PCF45, "steaks on the grill". Let's continue a well-earned R&R but then once again get underway, renamed, under new leadership and with a new communications channel, if necessary, and sail In Harm's Way.
(Admin: of course you can position this anywhere; you may want to combine all the related threads about our future, maybe in a dedicated forum).
Finally, while there are many who have served this effort "above and beyond", I extend my special appreciation to Admiral Hoffman for having started this, to Navy Chief for his superb dedication and abilities and, most of all, to John O'Neill for being such a bright and shining example as tip of the spear for this effort.[/b] _________________ Retired USN Capt.; Market Time vicinity ChuLai 6/67-2/68; Maddox 8/64 Tonkin Gulf; NGFS I Corps 6-12/65; Saigon evac. 4/75. |
