OMG I could not believe what I heard on Fox and Friends this morning.....I choked on my coffee....literally! They reported that it is possible the now vacant Senate Minority Seat may be given to skerry. OMG!

I just cannot believe this could happen.....we must do something......really...that jerk must not be allowed to continue on in public service. As the minority leader can you imagine all the trouble that fool will cause.

He says he wants to reach out, but I do not buy it. Now I know why he said it. He has his eyes set on that seat. He is planning to shoot down everything the President sends their way. He makes me sick. Twisted Evil

Not possible. Harry Reid of Nevada is a shoo-in. Besides many democrats blame Kerry for being a factor for the loss in South Dakota. In their minds losing Tom Daschle was a worse defeat than Kerry`s.

Since Daschle got thrown out the other Dems are afraid to take the job I think. No way Hillary will touch it. The "honor" of being minority leader leaves a paper trail that may not be good before running for president. Kerry has nothing to lose except maybe his Senate seat. But, Massachusetts liberals can do most anything in Office and still get elected. They would rather vote for a sKerry for Senate than a Republican.

Kerry is starting to look more and more like Gore, a big loser all the way around. I could be wrong, but I'm not quite as worried as I was this morning. He still needs to lose his Senate seat. Has Ted been doing his work for him while he was away, or what?

Nope....it's Durbin...the dems JUST DON'T GET IT!

One of the more visible presences among Senate Democrats, he has been an active advocate on such issues as ..... gun control.

I am missing something here. What vacant senate seat? We just had an election that should have filled all vacancies.

If Bush appoints some Senator to a judgeship or executive branch position that would create a vacancy, but I don't see that happening, unless there is a republican governor in office to fill the vacancy. His Senate majority is too important to him.

Never say never but I do not think the sKerry can muster support within the Democrat Party. What we need to do though is put pressure on the Democrats in the Senate. Especially those whos terms are up in 2006. Here in Michigan we have two of them. One a first term Senator. Facts in Michigan although a Blue state Bush lost by a very narrow majority. We are going to get with our Republican State Senate and House to strengthen up the Voter Requirements at the polls and try to stop the voter Fraud in this state.

It is a "seat" but not a normal one. It is a position within the party's hirearchy(?) that is in addition to a normal senate seat.

It is "understood" here in Nevada that Harry Reid is getting that slot.

Are there people out there who can organize and once the new Senate and Congress is in place, unless of course there is no change in that seat, and write our Congressmen to have a law in place that if you run for office, you must sign a 180 to ensure that you do not have an dishonorable discharge in your record?

If the President is going to be our Commander in Chief, it seems that anyone who can become President should have to do that.

No. 3 reasons. It's to high profile. He'll actually have to do something and show up for work more often than 40% of the time.

Reid is Minority Whip and normally next in the leadership pecking order for minority leader. sKerry would not have the support to accomplish that. He niether holds nor has ever held any significant leadership positions. It's bad enough that he has been AWOL for 2 years. When the Senate reconvenes with the next Congress, he is going to have to reintroduce himself as many resent his lack of attendance to his role. I'd bet during the coming lame duck session he isn't seen at all. Edwards will niether be missed nor noticed.

I believe that this is a full-time position, and I doubt that Kerry would be interested in it. His colleagues might get mad if he only showed up two or three days per week, two weeks per month, while they worked six and seven day weeks.

Reid of Nevada doesn't have the votes, lil' Dick Durbin of IL has the position sewn up. Something about leadership positions going to Blue states only.

Let me give you some lil' Dick history. He was a downstate Rep for several cycles, defender of 2nd Amendment, pro-lifer what they called a blue dog Dem. Over 3 years his positions changed so he could run for IL Senator seat that Paul Simon left open. In those 3 years, he became enlightened and a pro-abort, gun control loving socialist.
