While we were in ITR at Camp Geiger, the instructor interrupted our training to announce that Marine LtCol. John Glenn had become the first American to orbit the Earth.

Talk about a bunch of proud Marines, both in the air and on the ground! But we didn't lose any sleep.

This soldier wishes all of you USMC vets - and the Unites States Marine Corps, our brothers in ground combat - a happy birthday.

How can we not be proud of a service formed in a tavern?

Ex-Navy but I trained with the 1-3 Marines in Bridgeport, Calif. at the Mountain Warfare Training Center. And I've the scars to prove it. Wink

Happy Birthday, Marines! Thanks to all the others who celebrate this day with us.

Please say a prayer for our brothers and sisters who confront the enemies of civilization in Fallujah and elsewhere throughout the world.

Bravo zulu to all of you who helped the Swifties get the truth out to the American people.

Semper Fidelis and gratis to those of other services who've so graciously taken the time to congratulate us.
In a time when both parties are calling for us to bridge the gap between Democrat and Republican and no bridge seems plausible, it's gratifying to know that no bridging is necessary with the services. We KNOW where our priorities lie. It's been an honor to talk with the vets and form a resounding party-unto-itself here.
I will take this moment for a personal note and ask that those of you who pray take a moment for my dad. He was SSgt in WWII in USMC, and bore a son who served in the Army in Vietnam, son in Air Force, son in Coast Guard and mysef in Corps. We've had a niece and nephew in Corps and daughter is currently serving in our beloved Corps. He was a great man who taught his children and grandchildren the advantages of our country and who inspired us to be Americans who serve.
On the crest of Veterans Day and MC birthday, I offer William L. Schubel and thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
It's selfish when compared to the national stage the Swifties have enjoyed and the impact they've made but it's a personal thing for me.
Happy Birthday fellow DevilDogs and good fortune. And Happy Birthday Bill.......Semper Fi!
