The entire post convention, behind the scenes, coverage is very enlightening, but the Swift Boat Chapter is dynamite.
Quote: | Historian Douglas Brinkley, author of a wartime biography of Kerry, cautioned that Kerry's diary included mention of a meeting with some North Vietnamese terrorists in Paris. Edwards was flabbergasted. "Let me get this straight," the senator said. "He met with terrorists? Oh, that's good." |

An interesting thing about the Newsweek link is that the story is based on the premise that the Swiftvets information is totally false. |

And also they went to great lengths in page after page to explain that the entire "problem" with the Swifts was that Kerry's strategy was off in not responding to them -and the article smeared the vets & ignored their message (cancelled the press conf? I don't know if one was cancelled or not -- but there WAS a Press Conference) .... It was all a campaign strategy fault: If only people had let kerry "fight back" all would have been well. O'Neill had made it clear that a nice and open direct confrontation on the issues would be just fine with him! As I recall, he threw down that gauntlet early on. That's when the kerry people fearfully hunkered down (I'm sure many, many of them know what the real truth is!), and when they said "no comment," they gave kerry the excuse that he was unable to "fight back." |

I posted this in another thread, but maybe it belongs here. From CH. 6 of the Newsweek article, about what the Kerry people really knew.
Edwards played along, but his aides were indignant. They warned the veep candidate that the story was already out of control and about to get worse. Historian Douglas Brinkley, author of a wartime biography of Kerry, cautioned that Kerry's diary included mention of a meeting with some North Vietnamese terrorists in Paris. Edwards was flabbergasted. "Let me get this straight," the senator said. "He met with terrorists? Oh, that's good." |

Still campaigning for "their boy." "If only, if only, if only.... if only more than half the country was fooled by F-911 or taken in by Kerry's disgusting show of "reporting for duty," <gag> or disgusted by the terrible attempts at squelching free speech in this country.... Kerry coulda been a contendah!"
Bah!
The corrupt leftist media hasn't realized what's hit 'em, yet. Let them continue in their illusions. We can see the bitter little man behind the curtain, now and the holographics and pyrotechnics won't work, any more.
I'm betting on the vets of this country - the traitor will be brought to justice. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

Sure wish Kerry had “hit back.” His handlers clearly made the right choice in not doing so. Otherwise, Kerry certainly would have come out even worse. But I do wonder if Kerry has so deluded himself that he actually doesn’t realize this? Maybe he really believes he’s a hero, fantasies seared in his mind? Skerry. |
