A friend of mine said Fox news or Fox and Friends played some Dan Rather clips which he said were very funny. Rather was on air when the phony exit poll numbers were being circulated as real poll numbers putting Kerry ahead in a landslide. It must have really been telling. Am posting here in case someone has a link to the news clip or a transcript so I can have a good laugh. Smile Laughing

Just a bunch of his canned down home Texas sayings. If you google 'ratherisms', you'll find it.

I did like one of them however:

Quote:
"In southern states they beat him like a rented mule."

Nothing was better than late at night when he said.

"Now remember, a Kerry victory is within the realm of a possibility"

Has Rather conceded the race to Bush yet? Last I saw him, he was going over how Kerry could win without Ohio, and Ed Bradley looked dumbfounded that Rather was still trying to figure it out.

We do not talk like that "down here" in Texas, and I don"t care where Rather is *from* he is nothing but a NE elitist, and I would appreciate it if he would stop trying to parody Texans.

MAN! He makes me madder than a wet hen!

Clips of Dan and Ed Bradley are circulating as so few watched the broadcast. Pretty pathetic. Two old men swapping bitterness in an empty, funereal studio.

I was still sleeping, but my dh saw that clip and he said they should have shown Rather when he was crying in his soup instead! Rolling Eyes

He may still be in the studio waiting for the final results. He has not called it yet the last I heard.

Rather is from Wharton, Texas about 60 miles west of Houston. I've been by Wharton several times and have never seen a sign touting their hometown boy . Rather may be a U. of Houston grad, but he definitley went elitist years ago and is as real a Texan now as Kerry was a real goose hunter! Twisted Evil

Here's one blogger's reaction to Dan's Ratherisms:

Dan Rather is a little old to still groping for an identity. His "Ratherisms" are so lame that only a Manhatten adman would think they sounded authentic. Thus they don't since that's probably where they came from. When it comes to Rather being authentic, well that dog don't hunt.
