|
|
The American Movie Channel is running a commercial today for "Apocalypse Now" with the commentary "When you take a swiftboat into Cambodia bad things can happen". The Swiftvets brought to light the fact that Kerry was never in Cambodia and I'm under the impression from various discussions that no swiftboats ever did go into Cambodia, so is AMC helping Kerry out here with his Cambodia story? |

I think AMC is confusing their boats. Martin Sheen travels upriver on a PBR in Apocalypse Now, not in a swiftboat. _________________

American Movie Channel is just taking advantage of the name recognition from recent news events to advertise, sell and hype their showing, and taking "poetic license" in doing it. It's just dumb commercialism in my opinion, but what else is new. |

It's just advertising jerks doing what they do best.
Jumping on a bandwagon to share the publicity by association.
We're the bandwagon.
Ya gotta remember, these guys would exploit their own mothers for a buck. _________________ Swift Boats - Qui Nhon (12/69-4/70), Cat Lo (4/70-5/70), Vung Tau (5/70-12/71) |

For those better in the know than I, am I correct in my impression that no swiftboats ever went into Cambodia? I'm sure someone has posted about this before but this will save me a lot of reading to go back though them. |

One of the lesser benefits of the success of Swift Vets and POWs is the
lessening of the commercial rush to cash in on the "Kerry Myth." If he
had won, we would be inundated with with JFK "PT-109" movie sequels
and rip off merchandise. The pain of seeing young children playing with
GI John dolls and launching duck like "Swiftee Boatees" in the bath tub
would have been disastrous to the psche of many honorable and prideful
Swift Boat sailors.
As it is, comercialism is still making a run. We have information that the
plastic kit maker Revell is about to re-issue their model of a Swift Boat
using the hull number 94 and a picture of Kerry on the box cover. We
are currently having discussions on how to make known our concern
about such a move. The model itself would be welcome. The connection
to the campaign and Kerry would be an affront to every sailor that ever
served on the boats.
In addition, the Kumma Interactive War Games company keeps up their
stupid (in my humble opinion) interactive web game that forces the player
to act "heroically" according to Kerry's version of the Silver Star incident:
..................................... John Kerry's Silver Star .....................................
.................... ....................
The worst part of this latter commercial enterprise is that the President of
the Swift Boat Sailors Assn (non-profit veteran's organization) has profited
from this presence with a presumable paid endorsement of the message
of this interactive game with his own political opinion using the narratives
and experiences of other Swift Boat sailors.
The fact that this company includes a link to my web site is an embarassment
but something for which I have no recourse but to accept as part of the web.

Don't forget....Sen. Kerry never mentioned Cambodia...ever...until he did a 10/1979 newspaper "review" of "Apocalypse Now".
If Sen. Kerry had gone into Cambodia, he would have mentioned it during his treasonous 1971 testimony. _________________ U.S.M.C. - 1969-1971

I watched the part where Robert Duval does his "The smell of Napalm
in the morning." line. Then went and watched NASCAR on (gasp)
NBC.
Last night, I hit the DVD recorder to record Mel Gibson's "The Patriot"
on TNT and watched that two hour documentary on the Japanese Navy
on History Channel.
This morning when I got up, I parsed out 45 minutes of commercials
from "The Patriot" while getting coffeed up. Now I have something
decent to watch this evening.

I went to the KumaWar Kerry's Silver Star game and saw right off the bat Kerry is portrayed falsely by pumping him up with a hefty set of muscles in his arms instead of the chicken wings he really had, so it's no surprise they've chosen to go all the way with Kerry's false version of the Silver Star incident. While they include SBVT's and others' articles refuting Kerry's assertions, in the end they need to sell their games so the truth be damned. They must have really been banking on Kerry winning - this game will sink to the depths of oblivion now. |

He must have felt confident to tell such a whopper and believed he had some credibility. How soon after Humpty Dumpty got his medals back and and received a new discharge did he first mention "Chirstmas in Cambodia?" _________________ '58 Airedale HMR(L)-261 VMO-2 |
