Any wonder why this country is so bitterly divided today, when articles such as this are published?

http://www.newyorkobserver.com/pages/observer.asp#

Whoever this is is about as sick a puppy as I've ever heard of. If they had their way, this country will go down the drain fast.

Although an email address is given at the end, I attempted to email the following to him and it came right back as undeliverable due to exceeding his mail quota. I hope all are scathing letters telling this sorry SOB off.

My email;

Quote:
The sad part about your "article," Mr. Hoffman, is that you do more disservice to this country than all the protestors combined. What part of majority rule, don't you understand? Will you and your ilk not be content until you forcefully make America over into the Union of Socialist States of America?

What's even more ridiculous is that the air of your article is solely about "winning," not bettering the country.

Look around you. Conservatives don't really care how you live your life, as long as it is within established law. I believe in and practice, you live your life, I'll live mine. I cannot say your article left me with any feelings of you grants others the same rights. You would force us all to live under what you perceive as an umbrella of liberalism, what you believe is what all should follow.

Thank God you are only a second rate journalist writing for a second rate scandal sheet.

That article sounds like sour grapes to me. More like a three year old throwing a hissy fit. Why didn't he vote for Ralph Nader for heaven's sake? Nobody twisted his arm to work for or vote for Kerry. Yet he whines that he couldn't bear to watch Nader on TV because he agreed more with Nader's philosophy, but was working for Kerry.

I guess to him, winning *is* everything, and the reason he's so mad at John Kerry is because...he lost.

There's a lot that one could comment on in that jerk's article, but one phrase jumped out at me because I have seen it before - numerous times, in fact:

Quote:
Personally, I am not above some outright lying, but only if it gets me where I want to go.

It is kind of hard to sell truth to these idiots when they don't value it, and, in fact, relish the opposite. It's the old the end justifies the means mentality.

What disturbs me is that I've seen that exact same quote in the writing of a number of Democrats this election season.

I guess everyone but benighted Democrat volunteers knows Liberals are liars. It's a refreshing surprise to hear one admit it.

Plainly, bolshevism is alive and well. The Dems aren't a political party they're a 5th column. 'Unity' would only be a pretense.

“Let’s get divisive, gang. No national healing—raw wounds, anger and resentment. This is the moment for accusations and recriminations. I am second to none in my low estimation of the American public... If you are going to kid the public, at least win the election.... Unity in our situation means endorsing: aggression, invasion, torture and assassination. It means indifference to the working poor,... The job of taking on organized religion should not be left to well-meaning but ineffectual groups... From defeat, ...take disunity, division and a refusal to shut down the liberal spirit.”

Seems like we’ve got ourselves a little ranting neo-comm here -- coming out of the closet, I guess.... Shocked

"Democratic candidates like John Kerry hide and run away from the word "liberal." Sometimes they will do it by substituting the word "progressive," but more often they do it by donning G.O.P. clothing, which does not become them. Personally, I am not above some outright lying, but only if it gets me where I want to go. If you are going to kid the public, at least win the election. Otherwise, you have your reputation as a liar and nothing to show for it. In this campaign, the candidate and the major politicians fled from being called liberals, which the Republicans did in abundance..."

And here all of this time I thought only conservatives felt this way about liberals! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

"...except if the heart of the Democratic Party is not liberal, then what the hell is it?"

I think you guys covered this pretty well.

"The Communist Party of the United States is a fifth column if there ever was one. ... They are seeking to weaken America just as they did in their era of obstruction when they were aligned with the Nazis. Their goal is the overthrow of our government... What can we do? And what should be our course of action? The best antidote to communism is vigorous, intelligent, old-fashioned Americanism, with eternal vigilance. ... I do favor unrelenting prosecution wherever they are found to be violating our country's laws. As Americans, our most effective defense is a workable democracy that guarantees and preserves our cherished freedoms. I would have no fears if more Americans possessed the zeal, the fervor, the persistence and the industry to learn about this menace of Red fascism. I do fear for the liberal and progressive who has been hoodwinked and duped into joining hands with the communists."

This could have been written in 2004 -- but it's from the “Testimony of J. Edgar Hoover before the HUAC” on 3/26/47.** TESTIMONY **

"Treason" should be required reading for all Civics classes. There is one most glaring error in the hystronics over SENATOR McCarthy. It was called the HouseUnAmericanCommittee -NOT THE SENATE.

And when you look at the time lines for this period you will see more and more "fantasies" and out right LIES.
