I hope I am posting this in the right section, if not please move. I just got the January 2005 edition of Texas Monthly. I have not had a chance to read the article yet, but Pamela Colloff wrote the above titled article.

Just wanted you guys to be aware of the article. I will update once I have read the article and let you know if it is Swift Vet friendly or not. Can never tell by the title.

I have not read it, but be aware that Texas Monthly is a liberal rag of a magazine, so don't be surprised if you read the same smears of the Swiftvets as other liberal rags have written.

I read the introductory paragraph and from the tone, I'm pretty certain that it will be as biased as everything else we've come to expect from the old media. I found the following phrase particularly revealing.

Pamela Colloff, Texas Monthly, January 2005 wrote:
...Kerry questioned the legitimacy of the war in testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, famously saying, “How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?”...Silky Pony Sunk

I doubt that Ms. Colloff, useful idiot that she is, knows that the quoted passage originated with the KGB in the '60s and was used in dropped flyers by the North Vietnamese Government, in the late '60s. Based on the authentication capability demonstrated by the old media during the campaign, she probably doesn't grasp the underpinnings.

Haven't read the whole thing yet, but have read a bit. Basically, it tells the story of how the Swift Vets started out. It mostly is about John O'Neill, Merrie Spaeth and a few others. More of a history. Has a few things by Paul Begalia on the topic, but nothing we haven't heard before. Talked about how it started and the first meeting in Dallas and then how the money got started to pay for the message. Again, I haven't read the whole thing, but it didn't seem like a smear job. It would have a paragraph with what O'Neill had to say and the next paragrah would be Spaeth and so on. More names with paragraphs are Alvin A. Horne, Lou Dubose, Bill Miller, Harold Simmons, T. Boone Pickens, Van Odell, Michael Bernique, John Hurley, Jennifer Webster and our favorite Chad Clinton. The titles of the sections are The first meeting, going public, the money, the annunition, the media blitz and Election Day.

Anyway, it ends with a quote by T. Boone Pickens and here it is:

"I don't know how you measure how much influence these Swift Boat guys had on the elections. Somebody's smart enough to figure that out, but I'm not. All I can tell you is this: I don't run into George Soros very often, but the next time I see him, I want to tell him that I got a hell of a lot more for my money than he did for his." I laughed. Typical Boone.

Anway, that about sums it up.

I don't think she even cares where that infamous quote came from. She can use it to push her agenda and that would be to assasinate the Swiftees character. I think we will see a lot more of this if Kerry runs again. They have to negate the Swiftees and I expect the attacks to get much worse.
