The two duplicate USCG Vietnam War Memorials sponsored by the Coast Guard Combat Veterans Association, as announced in earlier issues of Evening Colors, have been completed. The first one was dedicated at USCG Training Center, Cape May, New Jersey on July 16, 2004, and the second one at USCG Academy, New London, CT on October 23, 2004.
Their large bronze plaques give abstracts of the USCG missions, activities and operations afloat, ashore and avia¬tion, as well as the names of 64 vessels, the several stations and other units ashore, aviation and the men who lost their lives in combat operations.
Both commands gave enthusiastic support, prominent landscaped placements and hosted the dedication ceremo¬nies. These included a USCG band, helicopter flyovers, multiple USCG and government speakers, veterans and guests.
This project was made possible primarily by the tax deductible contributions of USCG veterans
