Russert pressed him on releasing his records and Kerry finally said he would sign 180. He said it in such a way, though, that you could tell he was lying. Is anyone taping "Meet the Press"?

Not taping, but YES - just heard it! He sort of slipped it in real fast in his response, and kept talking - then requested that his "accusers" should also be required to sign the form.

When asked about Corsi running against him, he laughed and said he wasn't thinking about 2008.

He also reaffirmed that YES, he was in Cambodia on that "mission" - but that it was not exactly at Christmas, that he had "lumped" those times together - but that it did happen. On Christmas, they were "on the border of Cambodia" and were ambushed that night. When asked about Steve Gardner's ad stating they had never gone to Cambodia, kerry said that Gardner didn't know "where they were" as it wasn't his business to know, and that the other guys on his boat back him up. He also says he still has the hat given him by the CIA agent -- he said he "thinks it was a CIA agent" and he has asked that agent to come forward and tell the truth about the story.

To repeat: When asked, will you sign Form 180, he specifically said "Yes, I will."

Remember this statement is coming from a proven liar - so take it with a grain of salt

That was a SF-180 that Tim Russert had in his hand!

Why didn't he pull a "Rick Lazio" on his guest? Hmmm...that ploy backfired and gained Hillary a lot of sympathy when she beat Lazio in the 2000 NY senate race.

I think I just answered my own question.

I listened closely as Kerry said he would sign an SF-180, but he also added under his breathe that he wanted to see those swifties, that have challenged him, to also sign the same form, since they also had backgrounds, which may not be appropriate. Don't start trashing me, those are HIS words not mine. I wonder if some of the swifties can now use this statement to come forward, sign an SF-180 live on lets say Fox News, and challenge Kerry to come forth, and do the same thing. This could get very interesting....... I'm sure there will be more to come on this subject....

"We stand at a historic point in the World's History. For the first time in over a half a century, the Iraqi people have voted.
The American people want to move forward - not deal with the past. We have important work to do, and I plan on focusing my energies on working for the American people.
Although the majority of people in our own Country have spoken, unfortunately most of them were idiots. Still, for the intelligent ones out there, I have to get to work.
I don't know what I said on that "Meet the Press" show, but it's in the past - the American people want us to move forward, and I plan on doing exactly that!"

Blah, blah, blah ...

My jaw dropped when he said he'd sign the form. He said it very quickly, and Russert didn't go back. He also said it after stating that the accusations in UFC were proven to be lies!

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out!!!

Glad I caught this thread as I got to see a delayed broad cast!!

That was the most fascinating 40minutes of pure huckstering I’ve seen since I Don't know when.

Clearly Kerry has a pony, dog or resurrected hamster in the race for control of the chaotic democratic party leadership. Surely at this point he thinks he's running for president.

One thing I'm clear about is apparently he has a four point plan, I heard enough of this over and over that I feel like a non resurrected baby seal the day after clubbing season opens.

Russert did a reasonable job. The Cambodia/Christmas bit was fascinating. If you want to see what a sociopath looks like just keep in mind the way Kerry reacted to that whole digression.

Apparently Kerry don't think too much Steve Gardener's awareness of his surroundings. Darned cause I hold Gardener up as one of the better spokesman for the Swiftie's .

Kerry did allot of fidgeting with his right thumb over the tip of his left index finger throughout the whole ordeal, I will be looking for that in the future.

The other thing is apparently Kerry has as much if not more of a mandate to pursue his political agenda than George Bush does.... as the Election was just that close.

He had enough caveats around his agreeing to sign his 180 that I don't think we'll see that for quite some time.

In all sincerity I think Kerry's time would have been much better spent if he and Russert just Tuned in Fox and enjoyed the great victory of the Iraqi People and the American Uniformed Services

Pardon me if I don't hold my breath waiting for him to actually sign anything. Rolling Eyes

As for the Swifties also signing, since none of them are running for public office as a "War Hero/Protestor," and bragging about awards and medals, I'd say it's entirely up to them, individually. But, for what purpose?

The reason for him signing is to verify his claims made over several years. I have yet to hear of one single Swiftie make similar claims about themselves.

But, as I said above, I'm not holding my breath waiting for him to actually sign, either.

MSNBC TV will rebroadcast Sunday night 10 p.m. ET and 1 a.m. ET. It's worth watching. There is also a written transcript already posted on the Meet the Press site.

It is probably a calculated risk - get it out into the open and have the next couple years to spin it into his favor. Surely he has to know that if he runs again he will be dogged with it

From the transcript:

SEN. KERRY: I still have the hat that he gave me, and I hope the guy would come out of the woodwork and say, "I'm the guy who went up with John Kerry. We delivered weapons to the Khmer Rouge on the coastline of Cambodia." We went out of Ha Tien, which is right in Vietnam. We went north up into the border. And I have some photographs of that, and that's what we did. So, you know, the two were jumbled together, but we were on the Cambodian border on Christmas Eve, absolutely.[/b]

We delivered weapons to the Khmer Rouge??????????????

Weren't they the Cambodian Commies?

Weren't the Kmer Rouge the bad guys? Is Kerry openly admitting to treason, or is he that much of an idiot?
