that you don't recognise as being an email you sent?
I AM paranoid (but I work in security, so I'm spposed to be). I got an email "returned" (that I did not send) shortly after I posted my thoughts on this topic on my blog and after I registered here. I've been posting elsewhere too, today, so assuming my suspicions have any validity, the impetus could have sprung from any of those.
If you saw something of this sort, don't open the attachment (a zip file). I suspect it's a trojan.
I just wonder if there's any sort of pattern, or if this is coincidental. I'll check here for any replies. |

These are the footprints of worms or trojans - they forge the "From" line when they send out copies of themselves to other computers.
The worm "sees" email addresses on web pages, on emails and in your address book, picks them up and plops them into the "From" line.
Just forgeries - someone's infected computer has found your email address somewhere.
I encourage everyone to go to their profile and click "No" where it says "Always show email address."
And don't post your email address in a message - it can be picked up there, too.
And lastly, PLEASE do not post your personal information - home address, business address or phone numbers in your profile or in a message. Not even in a Private Message unless you are SURE of who you are speaking to.
We have an incredibly large number of anonymous guests and members, here. Be SAFE.

Yep, I know they're trojan footprints. I just rarely see one in my mailbox, and it seemed conicidental, and I wonder if there's any targetting going on.
Paranoia, you know? |
