Permission to come aboard. ET1 Jack Hetherton, NSF Cam Ronh Bay, April 68/Dec 69. Charter member Swift Boat Sailor Association....Ran across www.totalnavy.com/swiftboats.htm . They refered to "US Swift Boats of the Vietnam War"; The infamous Swift Boats that was a major operator in the Brown Water Navy....Quote of e-mail I just sent to them"The only thing "infamous" about PCF's is LTjg John Kerry. I worked on those boats for 20 months in Vietnam, and the only way I might refer to them is proud and courageous, never infamous." A side from that is a good looking model of PCF 11 they are selling.

note: Link repaired...please advise if not correct

Thanks Jack. Here's my email to them.

"Let me add my resentment to others I'm sure you've received. Please stop referring to the famous Swift Boats as "infamous." If you don't, those of us who revere the SVPT, will have to assume you're against them and will find it impossible to purchase any of your products. thx."

Seems they've already deleted the offending remark.

The new text reads:
Quote:

Swift Boats were crewed by proud and courageous American sailors.
These boats were invaluable in chasing the communist enemy infiltrating
through shallow rivers and along the coastline of Vietnam during the war.
They were a major operator in the U.S. Brown Water Navy theatre.
12 inches long 62 parts with decals. Build the ship that made the difference.

Happily they make no mention of sKerry.

To Tom Poole

That has to be the fastest ever for someone to change their advertizement, BZ to you and any others that may have sent a email.

I agree and here's the email I received at 6:13 p.m.

I concur in my haste I put something up on the website when I got the
models.
I took info off the box top.
The page has been changed already.

But, I now wonder if the "box top" uses the offending word. Hmmm. Anyone know? It's probably unreasonable to insist that all the boxes be changed. Here's my reply:

Thanks Captain. Kudos to you for the prompt reverence to these guys (I'm just a wannabe). I'm curious though, about the "box top" and whether the offending word is used there. thx. Tom Poole

Here's the Captain"s reply:
TotalNavy.com wrote:
No it's not on the box. In my excitement that I had the kit that
hopefully helped bring down Kerry I probably just used some of my words
without thinking.

And here's my reply:

Captain, you are the greatest. If I may borrow a term I learned from the Swift Boaters, BZ! Our politicians should take lessons from you because you've demonstrated a willingness to correct even the most trivial error, like this one, in order to ensure good work is recognized and reputations of good men are not sullied. A thousand thanks. Tom Poole

Again, kudos to The Captain.
