Sixty years ago the battle for Iwo Jima raged. Starting on February 19th, 1945 continuing through the month of March. Over 1/3 of the US Marines that were killed in action in WWII died on Iwo. Of the 353 Medal of Honor recipients, 27 were for action on Iwo Jima.
As I wathched and re-read some of the accounts I am more greatful and in awe of the Marines and our US Soldiers than ever.
But I can't leave anybody out:
Thank You to all who served and defended America for lucky guys like me! _________________ A willing tool of the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" since 1981. |

Two of my uncles were Marines who were injured on Iwo. They're still alive and kicking. We were lucky to have men like that then, and we're lucky to have men and women like the ones fighting in Iraq today.
Too bad none of those smiley emoticon thingys do a salute. _________________ DLI 78

I had presumed the post referred to the MSM which was mum on the whole thing. All they could cover was the "President's" Day sales. _________________ 8th Army Korea 68-69 |
