Powerline folks to be on C-Span:
Saturday, March 12, 2005
8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. (EST)
Forum: “Blogging and the News”
Center of the American Experiment, Mpls, MN
Johnson, Scott W., Attorney
Hinderaker, John H., Attorney
John H. Hinderaker and Scott W. Johnson gave a talk titled "The 61st Minute: Blogging on the Eve of Dan Rather's Retirement." They are two Minneapolis lawyers who write and edit the Power Line web log.
They were among the first to question the authenticity of the documents CBS' 60 Minutes II used in a report about President Bush's National Guard service, which aired September 2004 during the presidential election. They discussed the role they played in exposing the problems with Dan Rather's 60 Minutes II report. They delivered their talk immediately following the airing of Dan Rather's final broadcast as anchor of the CBS Evening News.
In addition to talking about the 60 Minutes II incident, they will reflect more broadly on what their experience “illustrates about the power of the Internet as a medium of information and the foiling of the dinosaurs of Big Media.”

Thanks for the alert here. I watched the program and it was very informative.
As they said it was not just them but thier readers of the blog who sent in information regarding the false documents. |

I also appreciate the alert. I used to be a C-span junkie until they
changed their format in order to get in more liberal callers instead
of letting the chips fall where they may. Also, I switched my allegiance
to Fox News.
I also watched the program and enjoyed it very much. I understand
where Scott got his nickname (The Big Trunk). It was also very
heart-warming to see a long applause of appreciation for a military
wife whose husband volunteered to go to Iraq. I can't remember his
name, but he is in his late fifties. She was asking a question that she
said she knew he would want to ask had he been there. _________________ Susan R. Morton |
