Kerry will sign the SF 180 once his minions have finished sterilizing his records.

This is exactly correct.
When they can get a few of the pro-Kerry workers in the Pentagon records division working the shredder at 2am. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, who was that guy out of the 'Clintoon' admin that had his pockets stuffed with documents?
I remember now-Sandy Berger, hell he's got a PHD in shredding and stuffing. _________________ Tin Can Gunline Vietnam

It's gonna be a little tough to sterilize the records in St Louis -- different ball of wax. If he does have someone willing at St Louis to help him, I'd be surprised. I think he's going to shoot for getting all his records from there and then release a couple of more pages to his website and then claim "once again" that he has made "all" his records available.

Quote: | 2/7/05 – Kerry on Imus
IMUS: Why don’t do you it today?
KERRY: Because I have a stack of different materials they’ve sent me every time they’ve sent me something, and I want to know exactly what they’re sending. I’ll get it done. |
Question: If he signs Form 180 and has all records released to him (I am assuming copies) and he then goes thru them and selectively lets a few pages out, is that it? If no one else can actually see the information, would someone at least be able to find out how many total “pages” were released to him? Alas, how will we ever see what he decides to hide.... (perhaps he can be worn down a few pages at a time…)
Quote: | Captain’s Quarters – 2/6/05 – “Another John Kerry Flip-Flop”
“I want them to sign it, I want (swift boat veterans) John O'Neill, Roy Hoffmann, and what's their names, the guys on the other boat,” Kerry said. “I want their records out there. They have made specific allegations about my record, I know things about their records, I want them out there. I'm willing to sign it, to put all my records out there. I'm willing to sign it, but I want them to sign it, too.” |
And how is it that he “knows” things about the Swifts’ records – what does that mean; has he seen copies? How? No one else’s records are relevant regarding the release of his anyway-- what an idiot.

From the MTP transcript:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6886726/
I noticed when I watched the interview, that there were two
times when he almost let something slip, but caught himself:
"and we went into the rec--"
SEN. KERRY: We were right on the border, Tim. What I explained to people and I told this any number of times, did I go into Cambodia on a mission? Yes, I did go into Cambodia on a mission. Was it on that night? No, it was not on that night. But we were right on the Cambodian border that night. We were ambushed there, as a matter of fact. And that is a matter of record, and we went into the rec-- you know, it's part of the Navy records. It's been documented by the other guys who were on my boat. And Steve Gardner, frankly, doesn't know where we were. It wasn't his job, and, you know, he wasn't involved in that. But we did go five miles into Cambodia. It was on another day. I jumbled the two together, but we were five miles into Cambodia. We went up on a mission with CIA agents--I believe they were CIA agents--CIA Special Ops guys. I even have some photographs of it, and I can document it. And it has been documented.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And here: "So when we get--"
SEN. KERRY: I'd be happy to put the records out. We put all the records out that I had been sent by the military. Then at the last moment, they sent some more stuff, which had some things that weren't even relevant to the record. So when we get--I'm going to sit down with them and make sure that they are clear and I am clear as to what is in the record and what isn't in the record and we'll put it out. I have no problem with that.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a very obvious quick pause, like he realized WHOOPS, BITE MY
TONGUE. I thought to myself, he's getting his records and scrubbing them!
Then he'll put them out and say THATS ALL THERE IS.
Question: Does his signing the 180 mean that FOIA will only get the
scrubbed records?? Will we never see what was originally in those
records?? |

According to Form 180, he can request a A DELETED Report of Separation which means he can proclaim to everyone he signed Form 180 without releasing any new information.
SECTION II – INFORMATION AND/OR DOCUMENTS REQUESTED
1. REPORT OF SEPARATION(DD Form 214 or equivalent). This contains information normally needed to verify military service. A copy may be sent to the veteran, the deceased veteran's next of kin, or other persons or organizations if authorized in Section III, below. NOTE: If more than one period of service was performed, even in the same branch, there may be more than one Report of Separation. Be sure to show EACH year that a Report of Separation was issued, for which you need a copy.
An UNDELETED Report of Separation is requested for the year(s)
This normally will be a copy of the full separation document including such sensitive items as the character of separation, authority for separation, reason for separation, reenlistment eligibility code, separation (SPD/SPN) code, and dates of time lost. An undeleted version is ordinarily required to determine eligibility for benefits.
A DELETED Report of Separation is requested for the year(s)
The following information will be deleted from the copy sent: authority for separation, reason for separation, reenlistment eligibility code, separation(SPD/SPN) code, and for separations after June 30, 1979, character of separation and dates of time lost.
Link to Form 180 on the NARA website.

Not so fast. Read what was said.
snip "Senator, if you would just do one thing and that is sign Form 180, which would allow historians and journalists complete access to all your military records. Thus far, you have gotten the records, released them through your campaign. They say you should not be the filter. Sign Form 180 and let the historians...
SEN. KERRY: I'd be happy to put the records out." snip
I do not think he can get out of this so easily, with the new media recording his every move.

I hope someone in St. Louis sympathizes with us and has safe guarded these records from the Kerry minions. Perhaps they have all been scanned into electronic format and sent to a secondary location in an event of a fire or other catastrophe.

He will sign the SF-180, have Sandy Burglar retrieve them, and put out a few more pages including the afore mentioned medical records. I think this addresses Beatrice's earlier concern and, perhaps, highlights what may be a popular misconception about Form 180. As I'm beginning to understand, a signed Form 180 authorizes access (and, perhaps, specifically defined parameters of access) to a named party or parties. IOW, as an example, Tim Russert (or NBC News) requests a signed 180 and John Kerry authorizes that access to Tim Russert or to NBC News. At that point, I assume it would be the prerogative of Tim Russert and/or NBC News (or Judicial Watch) to go public with the information in any documents obtained. Beldar has touched upon the limited authorization for access that Form 180 grants in an earlier article...
Quote: | The question is whether Kerry's prior written consent for DoD to disclose Kerry's records directly to Brinkley would operate as a broad waiver and, in effect, consent for DoD to disclose Kerry's records to anyone else who might later ask. Alas, and somewhat to my surprise, I cannot find a case in the annotations to the statute that's directly on point in either direction. But given the prohibitory language of the statute as it applies to government agencies — and, frankly, given the purposes of the statute — it may be too great a stretch to argue that "consent for anyone equals consent for everyone."

Glad to see the Swift Vets site still running. Been a while since I paid a visit. Section III of SF180 allows the requestor to specify to whom the records can be released. Anyways, I don't think we can ever be satisfied unless Kerry signs the 180, with undeleted records selected, and Section III of SF180 specifying release to some impartial news source or historian. Judging by Douglas Brinkley's scholoraship and the Rathergate fiasco, Kerry could sign, and have some friendly new source continue his charade. http://www.archives.gov/research_room/obtain_copies/standard_form_180.pdf |

Kerry: Bush Still Hiding His Guard Records
Though he has yet to fulfill his promise to "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert 12 days ago to sign Pentagon Form 180 releasing all his military records, Sen. John Kerry complained this week that President Bush is withholding fitness reports from his days in the National Guard.
"All of my medical records and all of my fitness reports, every fitness report involving each place I served, is public," he insisted to the Boston Globe in little-noticed comments last Sunday.
"Where are George Bush's still? Where are his military records?" Kerry demanded.
The failed presidential candidate continued to maintain that all his records had been released, telling the Globe, "Let me make this clear: My full military record has been made public."
The paper didn't press him on a Washington Post report last year, which revealed that more than 90 pages of his own file can't be released until he signs Form 180. The Globe asked only if he would sign it.
Kerry said that he would, and repeated the promise to radio host Don Imus on Monday.
Four days later, there's still no report that Kerry has signed the release. |

I don't believe he will ever sign.
On the off chance he does sign, no one will be allowed to see them but Kerry himself. _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |
