When I told my wife I was going to start posting again on SVPT I expected her to be irritated or feel ignored. To my surprise she wanted to say “thank you” to my forum friends and wrote the following:
Thanks from a forum wife
To the other women and men in my husband’s life:
Recently one of my husband’s forum buddies from up north sent him an article about a fallen soldier, son of a co-worker, whose funeral he would be attending up there. My sharp hubby connected the 73rd Engineer Co mentioned in the article with the location of our friend serving in Mosul, with whom we are in email contact. Small world. Every time we are confronted with another devastation of war, we are all affected. We grieve, lose hours, ask questions. The more we care, the more we grieve.
It’s gratifying to have caring spouses. It is gratifying to have the kind of partnership that can comfort & hold & share the sorrow. But there is something that you veterans share that no spouse can fully appreciate. It has to do with common histories, poignant experiences, with loyalty and gender behavior, and so many things that I as a partner may never wholly comprehend. But I know that when my darlin’ communicates with his forum buddies, he keeps growing.
I just want to tell you that there is one forum widow who has a warm place in her heart for the cloud of good men & women who have served, and continue serving, each in his own way. I am grateful for what you are able to share with each other, and for the contribution it makes to the growth of each human being, each family, our societies, and our hearts’ longings for global peace.

Dear Bunny,
Thank you for that very poignant testimonial.
Your hubby has been greatly missed, he has contributed so much to this forum in the past. I am happy that he is rejoining our conversations!! _________________ “I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.” (Thomas Paine, 1776) |

Hun, you are blessed to have such a good woman by your side. I hope it is forever! _________________ "An activist is the person who cleans up the water, not the one claiming its dirty."

Hun & Bunny, thank you for those words. Hearing them means a lot to us and it's refreshing to see a spouse that has some understanding.
Hun, treat her right, she's a keeper _________________ Clark County Conservative |
